I remember the last Thune election night well--an apparent victory until the reservation vote was delivered, after all the other votes had been counted, and in sufficient quantity to change the election outcome. There was a lot of hand-wringing about "irregularities" but the result stood and Daschle escaped.

What is different this time?The Senate is controlled by the Republicans not the Democrats. Thune lost because the people of SD figured they should stick with the majority party in the senate. If they had known that Johnson was destined to be the junior senator of the minority party, they would not have voted for him.
