The other alternatives are darker. For example, he may be covering for a source in the Kerry campaign, or worried about some kind of legal jeopardy for his own actions.Good point. I would have thought that there would be legal people and business people at CBS who would demand that they cut their losses on this thing, but that has not happened.
Perhaps the legal and business people have concluded that it is TOO DANGEROUS to come clean.

Thanks, Low ratings will take down advertisers and cause affiliate problems. For the moment, CBS might see an uptick in ratings due to people watching the train wreck.
In the long run, if people do not believe what they are saying they will tune them out. It is never a good sign when Leno makes fun of the reporting.

At last--the missing piece to solve the Kennedy assassination. Buckhead was on the grassy knoll, but nobody paid any attention to the 5-year-old with the rifle...everyone assumed it was just a toy gun.

Wouldn't they die if they knew what the REST of us do! Shhhh! LOL!
To: Gibtx
CBS doesn't merely engage in doublethink, they are going for the redoublethink.

BUCKHEAD FOR PRESIDENT!! I'd rather have a talented conservative lawyer on the Supreme Court. Just look at his credentials. He's just 46 which is pretty close to Rehnquist's age when he was appointed. He would be in a position to serve on the court for 30 to 40 years. If W can build up momentum for a landslide, he could used the last few weeks campaignin for the Republican Senate candidates he needs to win to get his judges appointed.

Details! We don't need no steeenking details.

CBS has got a lot of damned gall to call this a news story.
To: Sola Veritas
he helped get Clinton disbard, shot down Dan Rather,
and gave George Bush a boost...yes, Buckhead is a Hero!
To: jhouston
Are they insinuating that the fake docs were a Freeper trick faxed to MSM to see if any are stupid enough to go with it, and then we waited and pounced on the first that did?
If they are that loopy, appointing Buckhead as the White House Press Secretary would send the whole over the edge.

This article gets an F. There is no mention of the most important item on Buckhead's CV--that he has been voted FReeper of the year.
To: Howlin
Republicans have orchestrated efforts to debunk the CBS News storyWonderful conspiracy, but how does that make forged documents unforged.

Buckhead wasn't on the grassy knoll, that was him on top of the WTC with the plane in the background.

The revelation could fuel speculation among Democrats that Republicans have orchestrated efforts to debunk the CBS News story How f'in hypocritical is that!?! CBS News knows Mapes got those documents from Burkett, who fax'd them from Kinkos in Abilene Texas.
Hey! Look over there! A conservative! In GA! Who punished Bill Clinton! GET HIM!!!
Talk about a d@mn fogging machine - CBS News is blowing smoke big time.

Funny you should mention photoshop. By CBS and Dan Rather standards, a photo of you and Laura Ingraham would pass their "smell test."
Maybe John Kerry should start explaning those photos of himself with Jane Fonda. They certainly raise a lot of unanswered questions.
