"Dan's "unimpeachable source" may just be someone he justified in his own mind--Mary Mapes, Van Os, Barnes. He did say on O'Reilly's show that a lie isn't always a lie."
Rather didn't really say that did he? "A lie isn't always a lie." I mean, am I on another planet or something? Lately I feel like I've been away for a few years, like Rip Van Winkle or something, and woke up in another world.

Rather didn't really say that did he? I didn't quite get that right. Here's what he actually said in response to O'Reilly's question about Bill Clinton being an honest guy:
Well, because I think he is. I think at core, he's an honest person. I know that you have a different view. I know that you consider it sort of astonishing anybody would say so. But I think you can be an honest person and lie about any number of things.
