"Questions about the president's National Guard service have lingered for years. Some critics question how Mr. Bush got into the Guard when there were waiting lists of young men hoping to join it to escape the draft and possible service in Vietnam."
Note that CBS did not pass up the opportunity to again impugn the President with the same type of garbage that was in the forged documents. These people are criminals.

Karl Rove would never have supplied such forgeries for at least three reasons: He is not so dishonest as Blather and CBS; he would have manufactured better forgeries; and he could not have been certain that the forgeries would go undetected, leading to identification of their source.

Nothing is more important to us than our credibility ... Wrong, CBS... Nothing is more important than the truth!! As long as you could convince the masses that you were telling the truth, you satisfied your own standards of credibility. You were never interested in the truth, however.

The statement only says that Burkett PROVIDED the documents. WHO wrote them? is what has gone unanswered.

For CBS, lack of evidence proves W's guilt.

The part at the end of the Dan Rather Statement, where he resigns from CBS, was the most impressive!!

They knew before going forward the docs were not authentic after talking with the first two 'experts'. The question is Why didn't they recheck and verify their sources before going forward?
Oh I forgot because the information in the fakes were authentic according to what others have said in the past. How do they do it with a straight face?

I would like to see the advertisers to CBS pay for their ad $'s with counterfeit money. Then when CBS complained, the advertisers could see their intent was valid in spite of the counterfeit money.

As Dan Rather wanted to say..."Courage."
HA! Did anyone hear Oliver North on Hannity last Thursday night (9/16/04)? It was great, he talked about what a lying, pompous weasel Rather is. He gave some explicit examples, my favorite was when another reporter implied that it must be very dangerous where he was reporting from
Context:
(Car bomb 10 hours before, Rather with blood on his safari jacket from his own nosebleed while on set, onsite for a whole 30 minutes)
Rather intones "Danger is our business."
HA! Ollie North does not like Rather AT ALL!

Sorry to keep up the running commentary on DU, but right now they're absolutely furious that CBS's announcement seems to have completely eclipsed Kerry's speach this morning.

The next thing I expect to read is that O.J. Simpson will hunt down the original source of these documents, AFTER he finds the person who murdered his wife.
