Yes, John Carlson of KVI in Seattle, not only has the stories about Mary Mapes...she called him on Friday (off-air). Carlson had been interviewed by the WSJ for an article on Ms. Mapes. For 20 min. he told them all the old KIRO-TV history, surprise...they left out everything but a bit on the hydroplane races. Mary (as of last Friday) claims that there is more to come including more documents...we'll see. My guess is the only document she will be seeing is of the "Pink" variety.

And yes Don Mapes of Burlington called the show to say how ashamed of Mary he is.

I understood that Barnes refused to talk on air until CBS came up with the records.

That was the original story.

But the Washington Post revealed that Barnes called Rather "sometime during the Republican convention to volunteer his services" (probably on Sept 1).

A day or two later, on Sept 3, Mapes told her boss (Howard) she had the memos.

Yeah no kidding. One thing I miss about Bill Clinton, he certainly was good at corruption. These Democrats lately, they can't get a criminal enterprise right to save their lives!

With the Clintons, now that was QUALITY corruption! If they were going to forge documents, no way would they have used MS Word. They would have used a typewriter! We could always trust in them to at the very LEAST hire some goons to intimidate a witness.

For example, if this exact same scandal happened to Clinton if he was campagning, Burkett, Rather, Mapes, Cleland, Lockhardt, and Barnes would have all "committied suicide"by now, their bodies found in a park or something.

But the Dems over the last few years have been slipping in their attention to detail on lies and crime. It's really sad. :(

The truth probably is that many of the insiders simply didn't think to check someone out in Texas. Does that mean they won't check out those that submit themselves for key positions, as well. That's what we all think.
