Burkett's story has many flaws, but to me, the fatal one is that he claims, with other National Guard officers also present, to have overheard an order to sanitize Bush's file. No one with even an elementary level of sense would give such an illegal order with witnesses present.

In charity to Burkett, his ailment causes damage to the brain and can bring personality changes and a tendency to confabulate. He is quite obviously a wreck of a human being. CBS is as much his exploiter as his victim.

Exactly!

I also find it highly unlikely that someone having just stolen files to scrub clean the TANG records of GWB, would have thrown them in the trash can in the very office they just stole them from.
