On his Monday radio show, Rush reviewed political contributions and erroneously credited Corporate and Institutional political contributions to the Kerry Campaign. A more critical reivew of his source notes these funds originate from employee PACs. Corporate contributions to campaigns are illegal.
Needless to say, Rush Limbaugh's comments caused a tidal wave of discontent from his incorrect attribution. The accused heard rage from their investors and clients. In fact "Open Secrets" records show some these same PACs contributed more to Bush than Kerry!
It appears that in this case, Rush Limbaugh is half right and half wrong!
Yes, pajamahadeen is more current.
But I'm feeling passe this morning...;-D
Didn't hear the show, at the dentist office with the wife.
Clarification will come from Rush, if needed.
I considered emailing him and still might do it. I am a member of 24/7 and need to replay the comment before I do that. Want to know exactly what he said.
Even if I could understand jibberish Rush is still 97.5% right.
Folks. Rush attributed the dollar amounts to Institutions not their PACs. These PACs play both sides. His comments caused unwarranted distress.
Finally, I LOVE Rush. The truth will set you free.
Those of us who have listened to Rush for a long time know that Rush will sometimes throw his listeners a curve ball. This "erroneous" statement could be a "spoof" on the Rathergate story and Rush will see if his listeners are paying attention. If it turns out that Rush was mistaken, he will, as he has always done in the past, correct it with an apology. Rush has class. Rather does not.

If you dance with the devil...... guess what...... sound like more excusess from the left .... i am a victim ...oooo i created a PAC to get what i wanted from Politicians..... i didnt realize there was a down side...... maybe your corporation should stop the PAC if it cant control it ...... it gave money to Kerry.... so now there are consequences... it is not a situation of balance... your PAC did it... so now realize your investment..
Money buys access to the politicians that write the laws that effect the profitability of corporations. An expensive two hour lunch with a Senator to state your case may move that Senator to vote to make you the winner instead of the loser.
Corporations hire Washington based consultants to come in and set up the PAC drive. Employees have NO SAY in where the PAC representatives in control of the funds (executive management) what political party will benefit. All they are told is that the money will go to influence those legislators Republican or Democrat in the best position to protect the best interest of the Corporation.
Everything is stricly voluntary and confidential, and it is stressed to employees that no retribution will come from their refusal to participate. In fact the contribution forms are sent by the employee confidentially via mail to a remote office. i.e. the management staff responsible for participating in the drive via the canned presentation supplied by the consultant never know beyond the presentation who is giving what.
But at least where I work, you can select from a set of alternate charities to direct the money to. My contributions go to a local hopsice, march of dimes, etc. United Way doesnt get my dough!
Thank you for your insight. Rush is a fantastic media force. The details of his point on campaign contributions needed inspection. A little further analysis on his part would have prevented considerable unrest if he attributed the PACs not Institutions as the source of campaign contributions.
My money's on these donations going to 527s.
If so, Rush will clarify.
Nit-picking.
How can you tell if you are?
Employee PAC's are usually setup by the company. Is this a more nuanced opinion?
