Kerry Campaign Touted Forged Doc Info in April

The Kerry campaign made an explicit reference to information in at least one of four forged military documents broadcast 14 days ago by CBS's "60 Minutes" - in a detailed campaign press release attacking President Bush's National Guard service dated months before the Sept. 8 "60 Minutes" broadcast.

Appearing in Kerry campaign literature on April 27, 2004, under the headline "Key Unanswered Questions on Bush's Record in National Guard" was the reference to "verbal orders" to recommend Bush's suspension from flying because he missed a physical - issued by Bush's commander, Lt. Col. Jerry Killian on Aug. 1, 1972.

Story Continues Below

One of the forged Killian memos broadcast by CBS is also dated Aug. 1, 1972, and chronicles Killian's "verbal orders" to suspend Bush: "I conveyed my verbal orders to commander, 147th [Fighter Interceptor Group] with request for orders for suspension and covening a flight review board IAW AFM 35-13." [END OF FORGED KILLIAN MEMO EXCERPT]

The April 27 Kerry campaign press release cites Killian's "verbal orders" for suspension as a "Fact":

"FACT: The order suspending Bush from flight duty stated: 'Verbal orders of the Comdr on 1 Aug 72 suspending 1STLT George W. Bush from flying status are confirmed Reason for Suspension: Failure to accomplish annual medical examination. Off will comply with para 2-10, AFM 35-13. Authority: Para 2-29m, AFM 35-13. (Aeronautical Orders, Number 87, 29 September 1972)'" [END OF KERRY RELEASE EXCERPT]

In the next paragraph, the Kerry campaign cited a provision in the Air Force Manual that served as a guideline for Killian's decision to suspend Bush:

"AFM 35-13: ... After reviewing the findings of the investigation, the local commander may convene a Flying Evaluation Board or forward through command channels a detailed report of the circumstances which resulted in the officer's failure to accomplish a medical examination." [END OF KERRY RELEASE EXCERPT]

The forged Aug. 1, 1972, memo alludes to the same Air Force Manual provision, with Killian saying he's considering "covening a flight review board IAW AFM 35-13" to handle Bush's case.

Though the information contained in the April campaign release mirrors that in forged memos broadcast by CBS in September, the similarities may be a coincidence.

In a February 2004 document dump, the White House released a batch of President Bush's National Guard records, which included material cited in the Kerry press release.

In a February 12 story headlined "Bush's Loss of Flying Status Should Have Spurred Probe," the Boston Globe covered some of the same material. The Kerry release, however, cited not the Globe report as its source but "Aeronautical Orders" apparently included in the White House document dump.

The April 27 press release does show, however, that the topic of Bush's flight suspension by Killian was very much on the Kerry campaign's radar screen at least four months before CBS broadcast forged military records to further document the story.

The easy explanation is that the idiot forger used the press release as a basis for the forgery.

Hard to see how they would issue this info without knowledge of the memos

Chicken and egg situation. Which came first, the phony press release info from the Kerry campaign, or the phony memo? It's possible the memo forger read the press release and made the forgery conform to it. It would be an interesting to ask the Kerry campaign what they based that press release on.

Is it coincidence that both CBS and the Kerry campaign both got the details wrong, that is, that physical was not due to end of July, GW's birth month?

In which case, where'd the Kerry Krowd get the details it cited?

I'm sure that it isn't. Someone fabricated this fiction, it just remains to be discovered who.

Someone posted last evening that one set of the PDF documents was created on 02/06/04. The PDF creation program wrote the date internal to the file.

That would indicate that the docs have been around awhile.

IIRC, CBS and DNC both admitted a couple of weeks ago that they had the docs 6 weeks before the 60 Minutes airing.

====

If the above are true, that would raise questions about the Kinko's faxes which were supposedly faxed around 9/6/04.

I thought that it had already been shown that AFM 35-13 referred to something totally different than flight physicals. Furthermore, I also thought that it should have been AFR...

This is a bad story on News Max's part

http://www.usatoday.com/news/bushdocs/11-4_2004_Personnel_File.pdf

see page ten No6 ... this is the real info that the foger used in part to construct the fake memos

...this is like the po box 34567... that was a real adress found in real memos

I belive the Kerry camp had there hands forged memo but we need to build a solid case to really finish them off

News Max is not making there case in this story with some of the facts listed in this story by siteing info comming from the kerry camp that can easly be found in real memos

the left will attack our case with full force.. any flaw on our part ...gives them ammo...

You are exactly right...this kind of non-story does not help the credibility of online news sources. I was trying to find the link to that legit form from which the KE camp obviously got their info...I also believe that is where the info for the forged memos came from, but both using a REAL doc as a source doesn't NECESSARILY link the two...we need something stronger. If current trends continue, we will find it...eventually

Every day that goes by seems to reveal more and more fingerprints of the Kerry campaign on these forged memo's. Burkett doesn't look like he's going to fall on his sword. Cleland is the incredible disapearing fomer "war-hero" Senator. Rather is sorry in a very indignant and smug kind of way. Rooney says there is "no evidence that the allegations of the memo aren't true" (now, THAT, ladies and gents, is a statement that ONLY a liberal could make!)!!! Lockhart has now admitted to seeing them a few days before cBS went to air with the story. It just seems that the movers and shakers of the Kerry capaign are all a little off-kilter right now. It's because they have been cold-busted by a bunch of pajama wearing google monkeys. The Kerry campaign is the genesis of this "story". This was a political dirty trick that has blown up in their face. I think this story will dominate the rest of the election cycle. This exposed dirty trick could spell total doom for the dim's in general losing more Seante seats, and scads of house seats. At least I hope so.

'Bout darn time they started reading our postings here.

(Carl does realize, doesn't he, that so far, the ONLY people in the world who can find that D**M reference AFM manual are the democrats, the forger, and "Col Killian."

Nobody, and I mean nobody anywhere can get their hands on that document, but the Kerry-Edwards campaign (dnc was Kerry only at that time in April!) can quote AFM 35-13 hook, line, and sucker.

>> The easy explanation is that the idiot forger used the press release as a basis for the forgery.

Sorry, I don't see how that could be. Why would a forger copy a press release? If he assumes the information is valid, there is no need to forge the same document. If he knows that the information is phony, then the forgery (or at least something using the same words) antedates the press release.

Here, as usual, the simple explanation is the most sensible. If the DNC used identical language months ago, they had access to the forgeries.
