I will bet 100 dollars that the will be a made for TV movie about this where Dan and Mary are depicted as stalwart heros and conservatives as barbarians at the gate...blah blah blah.

Here's a scary thought. Maybe they are over on ebay looking for that elusive 70's typewriter so they can produce forgeries that at least look like real documents.
Maybe that's the real reason Mapes is still on the payroll.

They are both convenient HITMEN. CBS upper mgmt. knows that Rather and Mapes are seriously deluded/self-centered persons with a lifetime grudge against North Texans/Republicans/REAL MEN.
Mapes (IMHO) has been indoctrinated into the Hillary FUZZBUMPER CLUB, and this steepens her hatred of all things REPUB and MALE.
CBS uses them to do what all MSM do. Attack enemies of your boss.

We could not have asked for anything more. Mapes and Rather have the goods on CBS so they keep their jobs. CBS will keep going in a "downward" spiral and will keep this in the news.

Yes, Mapes was held in contempt of court, twice, for refusing to release to the court the entire film interview she did. That was in the trial of the 3rd defendant in the Byrd case.

The logical place to leak those documents would be in Texas, where the Guard office was... even a Demonrat might be clever enough to figure that out.

you know what i would absolutely LOVE to see??? - that whoever's running the show @ CBS, bite the bullet, call her bluff (if what's described above is fact) and take the inevitable crashing down of the tower into the next level - reconstruct the entire team starting with Brit Hume as the anchor.
Brit is, imho, the Edward Murrow of our Generation. And despite the zaniness of the above idea, I believe that a really smart businessman could see that the current apologies-that-aren't-apologies are - like the present meme that CBS is "fake-but-accurate" - making CBS into the laughingstock of the media world and likely causing more damage (for their arrogance in expecting the public to stupidly nod in agreement) than the actual rathergate forgeries themselves.
Of course, this ain't gonna happen; the evidence points more and more to a federal crime having been committed (media engaged in falsification of government docs to use in corrupting a general election) - and despite their brave, self-anointed eliteness, we all know that an amoeba has more of a backbone than they collectively have.
But a man can dream...
