FL Anger Counselor Allegedly Set Pit Bulls On Flood Victims
New Media Producer: Kerry Corum
Police say a Florida man, whose job is to help people, deliberately ordered his pit bulls to attack hurricane refugees inside their office building.
Ryan Moore is a mental health counselor who treats anger management problems and addictions. He was arrested Monday and charged with aggravated battery.
Police say he released his dogs with the command "go get them" while he and the others were riding out Hurricane Frances earlier this month.
One man suffered deep bites to his stomach, face, throat and hands. A woman was bitten on one leg. They called 911, but police couldn't respond because of the storm.
This isn't Moore's first brush with the law. He's been arrested before for domestic violence, sexual assault and aggravated assault with a weapon.

STUART - A mental health counselor was charged with aggravated battery Friday after witnesses said he unleashed two pit bulls on a crowd of hurricane refugees in a Stuart office building just as Frances' eye wall was passing by Sept. 4.
Ryan C. Moore, 54, of Port St. Lucie, reportedly released his dogs with a command of ''Go get them'' while he and other employees were holed up inside the A.G. Edwards building, police reports state.
William E. Schoonmaker, of Jensen Beach, suffered deep bites to his stomach, face, throat and hands, and Sabrina Stuart was bitten in the leg as she tried to help Schoonmaker's wife escape shattering glass, reports say.
Stuart called 911 during the terrifying 10 p.m. ordeal but was told police and rescue crews couldn't respond until the hurricane-force winds had retreated, according to police reports.
Stuart said that on Saturday she and other building refugees were terrified for about an hour while the dogs roamed loose. She said she held a hammer in defense as she made her way to bandage Schoonmaker's injuries.
Another witness stabbed one of the pit bulls with a knife. Police eventually caught up with the fleeing Moore after his car stalled in the height of the storm, reports say.
One of the dogs was returned home with Moore's estranged wife while the other was taken to an animal clinic for treatment, witnesses said.
''We were all trapped inside our offices, even though we wanted to get into the hallways where we felt it would be safer away from the glass windows,'' Stuart said. ``Bill [Schoonmaker] had a bunch of wounds, and I got my first aid kit and bandaged him up as best I could.''
Schoonmaker and his wife, Kathy, operate an insurance agency two doors from Moore's business, Counseling and Evaluation Services.
Moore specializes in treating patients with addictions and sexual and anger-management problems. Kathy Schoonmaker said she was acquainted with Moore and his family before the attack and was trying to help Moore shortly before he turned aggressive.
Moore, who has previous arrests for domestic violence, sexual assault and aggravated assault with a weapon, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery Friday and released from the Martin County Jail after posting $100,000 bail.
well, his expertise is based on real life experience. Yeah, that's the ticket!
yep and those poor dogs will the the ones that have to PAY for this with their lives probably....I DESPISE people that do this kind of thing and their animals pay the price...
uh, Stuart and Port St. Lucie are in Martin County.
Now, let me get this straight...as of the other day, this guy was currently an "anger management counselor?"
Who does the hiring for this stuff?
What??? You haven't married me yet??!?
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHA
who was it that said it??? "there you go again" HAHAHAHHAHA
OK...I guess he must be a freelancer.
Just who is a better anger counselor than your congressman? Who is a better grief counselor than your clergyman or neighbor with a porch chair and a patient ear? Who is a better crisis counselor than your local Salvation Army?
Given the option of the counselor or the pitbulls, I think those who got the dogs came out ahead.......
(sulking)
How come laughter is the most common response to my proposals?
(poutpoutpout)
Great resume` for an anger counselor.
AHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAH STOP you're MAKING ME spit out my drink!! HAHAHAHAH
Port. St. Lucie is in St. Lucie County, just north of Martin County.
Careful, Laz. You never know when you're going to stumble across a CBEG.
This would be akin to a grief counselor committing suicide.
Doh. Make that CGEB.
I typoed, but you obviously got my drift. Precisely.
