In a familiar pattern, following Republican successes in the voting booth, Travis Countys Democratic District Attorney Ronnie Earle today indicted a bunch of the GOPs corporate supporters, including Cracker Barrel and Sears, and three employees of a PAC Tom DeLay is on the advisory board of. Corporate contributions to PACs are not illegal in Texas. While corporate contributions to candidates are illegal; TRMPAC never gave corporate contributions to candidates and that is one of the main arguments in their defense. The indictments from Earles third grand jury follow a two year investigation. In 1993, Earle indicted Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison after she won a special election. The judge directed a verdict of acquittal on the first day of trial. CBS pal Bill Burkett hasnt been focusing all of his attention on his grudge against George Bush. In August he was cheering up his fellow Democrats about the opportunity to rid the country of Bush, along with Perry and DeLay manipulations. In Texas, if you cant beat em indict em.
It's all about lawsuits with the DNC in Travis County....heck, everywhere...who can forget Florida 2000?
Oh. I think it's a lot more insideous than that!

Burkett again?
Wouldn't surprise me a bit, not to mention the Dan's daughter.
I find myself more than slightly nauseated at the whole mess.
Looks like TRAVIS COUNTY is full of a "corrupt, lying bunch".
I think it's interesting that Robin Rather is involved in this county's democrat party, and it's this county which spawned Barnes, Burkett and Rather. Stunning!
Looks like the real dems in TX have some house cleaning to do.
Ronnie Earle is a partisan and should be ashamed. His disgraceful indictment of Kay Bailey Hutchison in 1993, in which he refused to present any evidence at trial, ought to have cured him of this stuff, but, apparently not.
We must change the law to take back the special jurisdiction we gave Ronnie Earle to presecute all political crimes in Texas.
Sleazy games. Lies lies and more lies and of course litigation out the ying yang.
Even the elections boards are in bad shape thanks to them. We are new to Texas and over a month ago we tried to register to vote by mail. All three of us used the same form at the same time and sent in the same forms of ID with it. Me and my Wife (both +R) have heard nothing but my stepdaughters confirmation of the registration buzzed right on in - but of course she is +D...
Actually, may be a blessing. After Ronnie tried to do in Hutchison, she proceeded to get the two highest statewide majorities of any Republican. Technically, dear Ronnie did not so much refuse to present, he just asked Judge Onion to certify a truckload of unseen documents as valid. Judge told him the court would see the evidence and hear objections one at a time, just like a real trial. That not being at all what Earle had in mind, he folded his tent and stole into the darkness.
Someone ought to calculate the value of this just-prior-to-election indictment politically and charge Ronnie Earle with illegal contributions of public monies to a campaign. That IS illegal 255.003 Election Code.
Earle has always done this kind of thing;
it's time for the state legislature to reign him in, and change the law that gives Travis County jurisdiction over all statewide office-holders.
LOL!
Tell us how you REALLY feel!
Travis County has taken over Cook County as the most corrupt?? NEVER...EVER..trust a Democrat.
