180 Proof
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 9/23/04

Media Bias: The press treats Sen. John Kerry's incomplete service record as a nonstory. But it toils to fill the gaps on President Bush. Is a double standard at work?

Yes, based on the evidence of the past couple of weeks.

The big news was CBS' fizzled bombshell of forged documents purporting to show that Bush shirked his duties more than 30 years ago in the Texas Air National Guard. But amid all this commotion over the gaps in Bush's record and the gaps in CBS' ethics, the Navy confirmed that Kerry still had some documents, possibly crucial ones, yet to disclose.

[snip]

To make these private records public, the Navy needs Kerry's permission, which he could provide by filling out Standard Form 180. He hasn't done so, and very few in the media seem to care. (The missing documents may actually total more than 31 pages. An earlier FOIA request by The Washington Post netted only six pages of information from a file at least 100 pages long.)

[snip]

America's leading wire service, by way of contrast, has been clamoring for Bush documents and even going to court to get them. In a July hearing, AP lawyers argued that "the public has an intense and legitimate interest in knowing the facts concerning the president's military service." And not the facts concerning his challenger?

[snip]

Bush seems to get no credit for openness, just as Kerry essentially gets a free pass for his obvious efforts to control the flow of information. When holes appear in Bush's record, the media act as if he's hiding something. When Kerry bars the public from seeing documents that are known to exist, the lack of outrage is deafening.

And they wonder why we consider CBS biased.

They not only aren't satisfied with a full release of Bush's records, they have to make new ones up.

But Kerry, even with 250 distinguished veterans disputing his record, and admitted lies, AND an admitted war criminal, gets a complete pass.

Joe Lockhart said the reason why he talked to Burkett was to respond to the Swift Boats Vets.

This is the key to the reason why CBS became a willing partner with the JFKerry campaign and the only thing they could come up with to respond to the Swift Boats Vets was to "forge" documents to destroy President Bush.

Why the RNC isn't pushing for Kerry to release his 180 and his medical records, is a missed opportunity. The voters have a right to know. This would put the Kerry goons on the defense.

Oh but if the RNC pushed for JFKerry to relese his records, sign the 180, would play right into what this bunch has tried to tie together.

They believe that the Bush/Cheney campaign is one and the same as the Swift Boats Vets, who have been calling for him to sign that 180.

The media and we the public are the ones who need to beat that drum.

Email addresses are at bottom of post!)

Ann Coulter has an article running today on FR regarding this very issue. I posted this post on that thread...just want to share these emails here, too.)

Everyone who is still outraged about the years of deceit CBS news has leveled at all of us via their biased slant should email the names below and let them know your outrage.

CBS has used a bias so hurtful, a slant so dangerous and crushing, that they helped us to lose the Vietnam war (millions were slaughtered as a result-that is LIBERAL COMPASSION and IGNORANCE brought FULL CIRCLE!) and are TRYING to do the same with the Iraq war.

They do this night after night, in an attempt to kill American's resolve to win the Iraq War (just like they did during the Vietnam War), by demoralizing the troops and by using fraudulent papers to degrade the trust in our President...

(I do not know about you all, but I know that emails work...phone calls are best, but to do nothing is just plain lazy and makes preaching to the choir an empty task.)

Please take the time to write your sentiments to the CEO of Viacom, the CEO of CBS news, and to send copies of the letter to other news outlets whom you believe will tell the full and balanced story of the military records of Bush VERSUS the unknown (because he has NEVER release his full records) records of kerry.

CBS and certain other news outlets are hoping that Kerry's record is NEVER QUESTIONED. They want to keep the story on Bush's fully disclosed records for a very good reason.

Kerry committed treason. Period. They know it, we know it.

<Joe Lockhart said the reason why he talked to Burkett was to respond to the Swift Boats Vets.>

Does this pass the laugh test?  Burkett drives all the way to Houston to meet Lucy Rameriz (a woman he doesn't know), only to be confronted by a man he doesn't know who gives him the original of these phony documents.  He then drives to Waco where he makes photocopies of these documents to "erase any connection to Lucy" (paraphrase but close).  He is then put in contact with Joe Lockhart by Mary Mapes and we are expected to believe that this little dweeb, this little pissant, not even worthy of a response previously from the Kerry camp, suddenly gets an audience with Mr. Lockhart and he...

Did NOT even mention these documents to him???

This 'nobody' whom the Kerry camp has ignored, doesn't even mention this bit of information that allows him to look "important" to the Democrats?  These documents that are the only 'penis measuring proof' that this man still HAS a reason to live, doesn't bring them up in his brief moment in the shadow of a former press-aide to Clinton, and purported big shot at the Kerry campaign?

Come on people!!!!!  Not only does this not pass the smell test, it doesn't even pass the laugh test.

Well if you dissect Joe Lockhart words, maybe there was no need to discuss the "documents", seems to me that was already understood.

After all the subject "Swift Boats Vets" is one and the same as "forged" documents....

I think there are very interesting questions about the details of Kerry's separation from the Navy. It may be that he was cashiered as an undesirable for his conduct after the war, when he almost certainly violated the UCMJ and federal law.

Kerry apparently has released one or more documents dated well after he was in Congress evidencing an honorable "discharge." It is my understanding that, as an officer, he could not have been "discharged." Discharges apply only to enlisted separation from the service. Officers are retired or reserve and can always be reactivated, unless the officer resigns or is stripped of his commission. The only way a "discharge" would appear in his record would be if he had been stripped of his commission for serious misconduct, reduced to enlisted rank, and then discharged as an enlisted serviceman. Initially, the discharge would probably have been less than honorable, but in the years since then, as a senator, he may have had the influence to have his discharge upgraded to honorable.

The point is that if he was truly "discharged" he was not an officer at the time, and that could only have been through loss of commission with retention in the ranks because of some discipline for serious misconduct.

I'm probably all wrong about this. I have not even seen for myself the supposed "discharge" that I understand is on his web site. Perhaps someone else more familiar with the service record documents Kerry has released and with military regs 30 years ago can enlighten me. It is possible that the sorry state of Kerry's service record can be deduced to some extent from what has been released to the public. If that is possible, Freepers are just the people to do it, and it would stick a fork in this phony.
