A turning point for Kerry?
Boston Globe ^ | September 24, 2004 | Scott Lehigh

...Here's the best indication that Kerry has finally decided to drive a stake in the ground on Iraq. Kerry's campaign knew that, in response to Kerry's speech, the Bush-Cheney team would immediately redouble its assault on Kerry as an inveterate flip-flopper.

The candidate, however, waved away those concerns.

"I don't care. I am not going to sit and listen to Bush not face reality," Kerry said, according to one adviser.

To be sure, another GOP accusation of expediency is hardly the only peril. One national strategist, noting that President Bush currently enjoys a strong lead when voters are asked who can better handle Iraq, puts the danger succintly: "Pumping air into an issue you lose by 18 points is very risky."

And yet, the Iraq war is a matter that is impossible to sidestep or finesse.

And with his new stance, Kerry has taken a position that should allow him to offer a more compelling counterpoint to Bush's foreign policy.

"This is a go-for-broke moment," says the strategist. "They may have decided they have no choice."....

Dick morris had a column this week that the new 'anti war kerry' turns off roughly 30-40 % of his own base.

Way to go kerry! You can get below 40% of the popular vote!!!

P.S. - Thank you clinton cronies on kerry's staff.

"I don't care. I am not going to sit and listen to Bush not face reality," Kerry said, according to one adviser.

This coming from a guy who thinks he's a war hero because he got a Purple Heart via a self-inflicted wound? This coming from a guy who thinks shooting a wounded kid in the back counts for a Silver Star? This coming from a guy who cut and ran while other Swift Boats stayed in a later-described "hot zone"?

Sorry...Kerry doesn't strike me as a guy who knows all that much about reality.

Here's the best indication that Kerry has finally decided to drive a stake... through his own cold dead political heart. RIP

They'd be in better shape if they'd run no candidate - just have a place to CK Democrat at the voting booth.

Kerry is worse than nothing - he's an albatross.

The Democratic Party could have had a chance to win if they had nominated George W. Bush instead.

Man these people make me sick. Does it occur to any of these folks Kerry should have expressed what he really believed, from the start? The line about Kerry wanting Bush to face reality is hilarious from a billionaire spouse who's never been to Iraq. What the hell does he know about this subject? Nothing.

SO was Kerry not facing reality a month ago when he said he'd have voted for "authority" to go to war?

And what a heap of bull THAT little nuance is--as Brit Hume pointed out, nowhere in that bill was there mention that Bush had to go to the UN or anything else--it gave him the power to go to war, period.

I'm so glad Kerry is telling Iran, North Korea and all that if he becomes president, when congress votes to give him the power to go to war, it really means they're NOT giving him the power to go to war.

This man is an IDIOT. A rich, pampered idiot who hasn't worked a day in his life.

Kerry SUCKS!! Other than that, he is okay for a lying, traitorous, communist loving, veteran backstabbing, selling his own country down the river, and getting people killed for his own political gain sort of guy.

Do you think when he said this did he had his lucky hat in his briefcase that he got from a CIA guy that he smuggled into Cambodia while running guns with Special Ops from Vietnam to Cambodia?

I mean since we are discussing reality...
