Senator Kerry could take some guidance from President Reagan. President Reagan reframed the issue of his age to describe his experience while humorously indicating that Senator Mondale was young and inexperienced. There may be an opportunity to use the term 'flip-flops' to distinguish between one who carefully considers all aspects of an issue to reduce the risk of taking wrongful and harmful action. When George Bush indicates that Senator Kerry wavers or flip-flops, the Senator could display a key-chain-size set of flip-flops and ask the people whether they would rather have a president who carefully and publicly considers issues and events and takes prudent action with international consensus or one who has a private agenda, hides the truth, distorts and misrepresents the facts to the People, and takes imprudent unilateral and militaristic action that grossly offends the world, has a devasting impact on human life and substantially diminishes America's moral standing in the world.

To which Bush should reply, "So which one are you? - today, that is. And do we want a President who carries miniature flip flops in his pocket?"
