That only amounts to about 2 tracktor-trailer loads.
Hardly a drop in a bucket as to what's needed,I bet.
Did your place withstand Ivan?
Bless his heart, don't you know he feels exactly like that....!!!
I'm so thankful we have him at the helm!
Well, I'm on the west coast of Fl in Citrus Co about 70 miles north of St. Pete's. If the winds are 150 miles wide we will probably get some plus some rain. I still have tarps enclosing the open lanai & the plastic on the front windows from Frances. Maybe Jeanne can knock the rest of the dead branches caused by Frances out of the trees. I got our hurricane supplies today- gas for the van, beer & wine plus large Hershey candy bars. All set & ready to go!
Best wishes for an easy time to everyone in Florida. Looks like my part of Houston can't even buy a drop of rain. Ivan missed me so far. I am still hoping for a shower tonight or tomorrow.
Hoosiermama, thanks for always thinking of me when these storms look like they're charging right up Florida. It appears that this one will miss me (sigh of relief) and once again my area is lucky.
The local news reporterette just warns of rain and maybe some high winds on Sunday.
I'm so tired of taking the patio furniture in, taking it out, taking it in, taking it........
I feel like I'm working for Mayflower Vans.
Leni
Well us here on the West Coast never have time to evacuate. Our earthquakes just " happen"......we may be praying for their hurricane in exchange for our 6.5 !!!!!!
"Where is the UN? What good are they?"
This is a growing question. Given this UN Oil for food mess, it may have just rotted from the inside out.
We have friends that left Cal and moved to Florida about 3 1/2 years ago. They called us last week and said they very much regret leaving Cal. His mom lost her place in the first Hurricane, and is now living with them, and now another Hurricane on the way.. Dang!
I agree, give me an earthquake anyday. At least everything isn't blown into the next county.
I meant the West Coast of Florida I should have said Gulf Coast.
I guess eartquakes are the lesser of two evils. These darn hurricnes cover hundred of square miles and blows the junk all over the place.
Compare July 2001 with September 2004

Leni, A sure way to stop the hurricanes would be to leave the furniture inside for a while.....Hopefully there won't be a Xavier, Yolanda and Zeus!
Take care all!
Like I want to see any of this nonsense............
All kidding aside, we told our friends on the water on Chincoteaque that if this looks like it's going to hit us to bring their boats and RV's to our place - we're nearly 20 miles from the Atlantic and almost 10 from the Chesapeake Bay.
Evacuate? LOL! I've been through 10 or so earthquakes and there was never a need to evacuate.
Yes, thanks.
"And Frances and Charley wiped out central Florida. As I told my dad AFTER Charley, but before Frances, that the trees were already down so they didn't have to worry about anything more like that falling on their house. Jeanne = more of the same. Florida will take 20+ years to recover. The orange and grapefruit groves are a mess in the Belt."
Yep- I was just out walking my dogs- talking with neighbors- we all feel numb- we (Central Florida) have tons and tons of trees down everywhere- roofs still off thousands of houses- it's a mess. Looked in the paper today and saw help wanted ads for roofers $1,000 a WEEK. Our governor has kept his sense of humor and steady, calm presence- so glad we've got him.
Lots of voodoo/witchraft practiced in Haiti. Voodoo drums heard beginning at 3 A.M. God doesn't like being mocked...
