Thought a thread in Breaking News for the weekend covering Hurricane Jeanne would be a good thing. Post your link, pics, updates and freeper check-in's here
No problems so far in NC. :-)

Thread started for check in and updates.
Good idea.
Again????????
My worry stone is turning quickly into a pebble yanow!!
Stay safe.
*whew* and I hope the folks in Alaska are safe, too!
Thanks. We'll see how long it (the thread) lasts!

Section 9 checking in. I'm on the southern edge of where the Hurricane force winds will be. The only pain is that I took down two of my plywood pieces a couple of days ago and now have to put them back up this morning. Sucks.
Be Seeing You,
Chris
Are you okay, Lady?
I am more ready now than with Charley, about as well as with Frances. Problem with that is a false sense of security.
And again, it appears from the tracks that Daytona Beach will get the NE quadrant of the hurricane, which is where the twisters spawn mostly.
bump
Thanks for starting this thread...we just heard this is coming in to us inland as a Cat 3...possibly into Vero as a Cat 4. We're ready- but numb.
I am not putting them back unless this turns into a 4.
Thanks!
Going to a hotel with the kids (ages 3, 5 and 3 weeks). 3rd time I've evacuated with a newborn .....I think he brought the hurricanes with him :o) All Florida FReepers you're in my thoughts and prayers. Stay safe and good luck!
Also to add insult, every storm has come in on a weekend! What's with that? Another round of plans ruined to sit around staring at the weather channel At least I kept power the last few storms, but I'm doubtful that I'll be that lucky with Jeanne.
According to the news I-95 and the Beeline (Hwy 528) are not busy. Maybe everyone is packing all they own before they leave.
Hey, you noticed that too! And whats with the nighttime attacks? I like the daytime ones so you can see how they are affecting the area.
Stay safe, hope you do okay.
Super map. Thanks for posting it!
Fort Myers here. Have built a 23000 square foot kite attached with one inch diameter dock line. Intend to tow my property out to Captiva Island to increase property value.
Har!
HAHAHA!!
Well we're sitting here 5miles in in Boca Raton waiting. Not even a breeze at the moment..
Praying and thinking about you all.
I like the skeetobite website; found it on FR during Charley. They just don't stay as updated with their graphics.
Woke early - groan.
My barometer was at a high of 1012 yesterday, was at 1008 when I went to bed at 2am and is now at 1004. I'm near Orlando.
I still need to finish tightening everything down and getting some last minute stuff. Gas stations around me are already out of gas. Thank goodness I had filled the tanks and had my full gas cans left over from Frances.
Going to see about buying a wireless webcam today and mounting it outside. Just have to figure out where.

And here is a site with a list of cams

Heard on Fox that FL will start getting first effects about 12 Noon today...
I am in St. Augustine,Fl. and plan on staying along with other residents of the Greens Condo. At least this time around I have a Coleman stove in the event the power is out longer than the 28 hours that it was the last go around.
Pray for all of the people in this state they have been through so much.WE had 75 mile an hour winds sustained for over 8 hours here the last time!
Problem is, I'm not home in Tennessee. I'm in central Florida. Arrgggghhhh!!!!
Noon! When are they predicting landfall?
I'm not in the Fl. area but have been keeping up with all of the storms that have been hitting y'all.
Prayers for those in harms way.
We're here in New Smyrna Beach - lots of wind and big surf so far....
Prayers to all of you and stay safe! My mom is in Fort Pierce and will be hunkered down with friends in Vero Beach again. I drove down there from Connecticut after Frances and did some repairs to her home, like taking down the damaged car port and screened-in porch, and patching the roof. Those repairs were supposed to last until the contractor got there. Her home is not in any shape to stand up to 120 moh winds. The rest of her community is in the same basic condition. While you are praying, please say one for the older folks down there in harm's way.
Hurricane force winds are still some hours away, probably about 8 PM Eastern..
I like how they named the towns and cities. Gives me more of an idea of where the storm is heading.
My thoughts and prayers are with anyone in the path of the hurricane. What a hurricane season, eh? Horrifying!
I evacuated to Sevierville for Frances and came back to Fla. while Ivan was headed to Alabama. I should have just stayed! I will be leaving my mobile home in Apopka for a block house in Zellwood.
Beautiful day in SC.
Poor folks down south just don't need anymore of this crap. Nor do we in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
It's all Kerry's fault! ;-) Jeanne was heading away, Kerry visits Florida, and then bam, she makes a sharp turn right at us.
Checking in from Orlando....hope everyone does ok!

Thanks for letting me know when. I'll be saying prayers for everyone in Florida.
I think if I was there I'd be walking around with a zombie look on my face, kind of a 'not again' look. It's way past time for the good folks in Florida to have some breathing room in between these hurricanes.
Hurricane check-in and ping. floriduh voter from Plywood Nation
The Tampa Bay Bucs, former Super Bowl Champs, get to postpone home games if we have hurricanes. I think Coach Gruden has something to do with it.
Well, my boat made it thru Frances. It's tied up and secure in Stuart. I drove over to the west coast yesterday. Spending a few days at the Hyatt, in Bonita Springs.
The boating industry will have trouble recovering from this mess. My boat insurance is due on October 17th, got the notice the premium has been increased by $600. Damn, I didn't have any claims.
Stay safe......
