I'm in SW VA and getting pounded with rain right now. It was supposed to go east of us, and did not. Tornadoes hit south of my area last time, and are predicted this time. We are supposed to get 8+ inches of rain tonight and in the morning according to local forecasts. I'm in a dry spot and if the wind doesn't get too bad, safe. Isabella put a big oak tree on my house last year. Compared to what FL has had, I'm not even going to complain.

Gabz, are you going to get it? If it doesn't turn more toward the east, you may not get as much as predicted.

Yep...just south of me!! Are you under tornado warning yet? The local news said you would be soon.

Flood warning has been extended until tonight and they are calling for heavy rains this afternoon.

No, no tornados that I know of. I think my area will be getting the worst part of the storm sometime Tuesday afternoon.

don't have power at home but I'm at work now

Ditto. It's supposed to be 90F today. One of our co-workers has a generator and wasn't affected by the storm so we may have AC tonight (much to the disappointment of the mutant mosquitos that have chewed a hole in my window screen.) I have developed a sensitivity to the little buggers and they now leave round bruises that slowly fade from purple to yellow.

One of my neighbor's cats has apparently perished in the storm and is rotting in a puddle under my house. I have four males in my household, and this definately seems like a guy job, but none of them has offered to crawl under the house and relieve us all of the stench. Hopefully, that will have been attended to before I arrive home from work this evening.

I must admit that I am no where near as miserable as my daughter, who lives with me, has a headcold and a baby that is teething...

We know that we are some of the lucky ones. My sister lost her home and three busineses in Ivan, and I have't yet heard from my brother in Jupiter.

Gabz, well, we are out of school today due to the flooding all around.

IDont....did you hear about mud slides in Floyd County? A friend there called me about it. She can't go anywhere between the flooding and the mud slides. I saw where they had changed the possible tornado path. You may be out of trouble there. I sure hope so.

Sheesh.....we only got enough rain last night and this morning to make it extremely humid - the kind of humidity that makes your skin clammy. Yuck.

Mudslideson top of flooding, yikes what a mess.

Tornadoes don't seem to concern folks around here, but I sure do get nervous when I here the national weather folks mention the Delmarva peninsula ............. and the gal on FNC just mentioned us in the path of the rain and flooding.....

I wish this thing would just go away and the Atlantic Ocean would suddenly think it was December 1.

I feel awful worrying about the possibility of some flooding here after what all of you have been through.

Prayers you hear from your brother soom (and the cat is gone when you get home)

Maybe it will stay west of you!!!! I hope so! I just stood on my back porch and I hear running water close by...I mean like a huge torrent of it. There is a little creek over about 1/2 mile...I bet it's not a little creek right now. I'm not going out to check. I live up a mountain a little way, so I'm not worried about being flooded out. I'd hate to be in the path of a flash flood down the side of the mountain, though. It's never happened that I know of here. Rain looks like it's tapering off now.

I'm not worried about flooding for me pesonally, the bank on the otherside of the creek that runs along the north edge of my property is lower than on my side, and the house is on a bit of slope up from the creek.

It's the roads that concern me, many of them flood very quickly and even though we haven't had any rain in more than a week, many of the ditches and culverts are still full because there is no place for the water to go. As little as 2 inches of rain in a short period of time will close roads.

You have a tornado watch there... I just heard it on the weather channel. I think it was watch, not warning.

Thanks. Just as I was reading your note, my weather bug started chirping!!!! It's a watch until 5pm and also for severe t'storms.

But it sure looks like a beautiful day out the window right now and I needed sunglasses when I drove to the store!

Of course the weather with turn to heck this afternoon - only because I have a furniture delivery scheduled between 2 & 6. Oh well.

If a little rain and wind is all I have to worry about - I am one of the very fortunate ones.

If the weather proves threatening, I would just as soon have them reschedule then take a chance on them having difficulties driving. It's a local store, and I'm generaly home during the day. I will let them make the decision.

The safety of the driver is far more important to me than getting the delivery today.
