"Have you ever been to Mangum,OK ~ it was named after my great grandfather; R.Y. Mangum. :)"

My mother, born 1927, was raised in Mangum until her teens when my grandparents moved to Oklahoma City. Back in the 80s I belonged to a OKARNG unit (the 171st FA) that had one of its armories in Mangum. As a battalion staff officer I visited it often. The 171st FA was headquartered in Altus, OK and had units scattered all over SW OK.

My dad was born in the Mangum region in 1885 and moved to West Texas when he was three months old, his middle name is Mangum after his mother's father.

I was born in Loma Linda, CA in 1930.
