"Doug Brinkley succeeds in humanizing John Kerry, something the senator often has trouble doing himself. Tour of Duty is an incisive look at a man who would be president." --Bill O'Reilly

O'Reilly considers John Kerry a friend. That is fine (I guess) but it is clouding his judgment. The review is short and says very little, but the fact that he would put his name on a book of a person who was running for president, when, considering his job, he'd be better off remaining impartial, shows his judgment.
Perhaps explains why he
jumped on the Swift Boat Vets without even a few minute of considering the evidence and then having to backtrack. jumped in to defend Dan Rather without again looking at the evidence.
blames everything on the VRWC.
His bias is showing, but then, I guess we've already seen that . . .
Interesting that he hasn't nailed an interview with his good friend, John Kerry.

Perhaps O'Reilly would be well served by reading your time line, Christie!

Tour of Duty is a whitewash, makes Kerry look oh so noble. Okay, Brinkley's job was to make Kerry look good. But it's not making Brinkley look too good, right now.
Did I hear that Brinkley is going to revise the book? I went out and bought a copy before he starts "rewriting history." Interesting, the copy I got from Amazon was still the 1st printing. The copy of Unfit for Command was the 9th printing.
But for the sake of attempting accuracy in the John F. Kerry Timeline, I am reading both books.

I even emailed a copy of the
Timeline to O'Reilly. I had no doubt he would not read it because he really doesn't want to look at the facts. Or debate the issues.

Yes, Brinkley is revising the book. I made sure I got an original edition, with all the embellishments.
What I found interesting in Tour of Duty were the footnotes and the documents used for sourcing the book.
You also might want to read Kerry's 1997 book, "The New War". Explains how he would treat terrorism as a "crime". Just like Clinton.

Some of you here might not know this, but Bill O'Reilly is an independent thinker.
Just in case you didn't know.

Dr. Frankenstein "humanized" his monster. Nothing can humanize the JFnK monster.
To: Freepdonia
In line with your information on O's independent thinking, some of you may not know that John Kerry served in Vietnam and is a hero.
Or had you heard?

Once I tried counting the number of times that Bill O'Reilly referred to himself by name and by implication in one hour TV show, I lost count after passing 50 counts.
Someone should try this again or make a word count from a transcribe.

Interesting that he hasn't nailed an interview with his good friend, John Kerry The reason that Kerry can't do interviews with any interviewer who wants to be seen as a "legitimate news person" is because it will either destroy the interviewer ( the begged questions don't get asked ) or it will destroy Kerry ( the begged questions get asked ). Neither of these guys wants to destroy the other.

Did he say anything about voting for the guy? No. The guy hadnt even won the nomination when the review was done. I think you are overdoing that friendship bit. I bet Kerry is more of an acquaintance from when O'Reilly lived in MA and was reporter and kerry was a politician he covered.
By the way what is this blaming everything on the VRWC? Where did he do that? I think some of you people need a life outside of watching politics. Every little thing is a slight to you. One would wonder how solid your conservative beliefs are if they are going to undone by O'Reilly saying that Brinkleys book humanized Kerry. Hell I bet at this point Kerry wishes more people had read the book since most people consider him an automaton. Geez, expend your energy in a useful way. Volunteer at Bush/Cheney Headquarters.
