Gore was flustered halfway through this debate. President Bush won in my opinion, and he also delivered a few prophetic remarks

CSPAN, I believe, will show this next Saturday at 8pm. One week, they just did the first debate today.

The coalition against Saddam has fallen apart or it's unraveling, let's put it that way. The sanctions are being violated. We don't know whether he's developing weapons of mass destruction. [Saddam] better not be [developing weapons of mass destruction] or there's going to be a consequence should I be the president. But it's important to have credibility and credibility is formed by being strong with your friends and resoluting your determination. One of the reasons why I think it's important for this nation to develop an anti-ballistic missile system that we can share with our allies in the Middle East if need be to keep the peace is to be able to say to the Saddam Husseins of the world or the Iranians, don't dare threaten our friends. How can anyone doubt President Bush? He has done exactly what he said he would do.

What I want to know is if past debates are available for purchase. The Mondale/Reagan debate might as well ahve taken place today!

LOL! I'd forgotten about all of Gore's exaggerations--the girl who had to stand up in her Florida classroom because there weren't enough desks!?!
What a maroon!

A few months ago I went back and read the debate transcripts. This came after Clinton's claim that his administration focused heavily on bin Laden, he was their number one priority. I don't believe Gore mentioned bin Laden once. In fact, given that Gore was Vice President for 8 years, I think his comments during the debates are evidence of how out of touch the entire Clinton administration was.

You know what stands out the most? Bush's class, his disagreements with the Clinton administration stopping at the water's edge, the way he goes out of his way to support the previous administration on foreign policy issues when he thinks they made the right call, even a hard one. Compare that to the Dems this year, willing to say and do anything to smear the president.

What a great read...... Yep, I made it through it.
President Bush handled himself quite nicely, didn't he? Nice touches of humor there........
