...was so badly beaten that his relatives were unable to identify him.

OK. How do we know if it really was Mr. Pumane?

Pumane said he had been paid $1,000 (£550) - but refused to say by whom -...

Or he did tell and they have "disappeared" or will be found "badly beaten" somewhere.

A country that doesn't give a hang for political correctness is a major asset in the War on Terror.

Justice - Putin style - ping.

Hey - when is Putin going to start personally assigning regional governors (picked by regional committees he hand picks himself)? All in the name of protecting the comrades from "terrorism" . .

Long Live Ivan!

_______________

"The man arrested last week for allegedly trying to kill President Vladimir Putin with a car bomb was interrogated by 150 police officers before he died. Police said he died of a heart attack. The Observer can reveal that the body of Alexander Pumane, 38, from St Petersburg, was so badly beaten that his relatives were unable to identify him."

"Interrogated"? No, he was tuned up, maybe, but not interrogated, I'll wager.

AND the official Police Report probably read:

Immediately subsequent to the suspects arrest, he was advised of his "rights". He stated, "yes" when asked if he understood his "rights", waived same and agreed to answer questions.

During the interview, the suspect became physically combative, requiring reasonable force to be used. 150 investigators witnessed the suspects attempt to resist and escape. Reasonable force was used to maintain the custody of this suspect.

Apparently, the suspect became physically stressed during his attempt to assault the attending Officers and escape from lawful custody. He showed signs of physical distress. In the interest of the suspects wellbeing, he was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Case Status: Closed, Cleared by Arrest.
