With all due respect and with no malisciousness, I think you are being snookered by Dan Rather.
Rather had this information for months , no way a man with his experience could not have known it was phony. IMO
Rather is complicit in a plot to destroy the President, he is no longer reporting news he is involved in Partisan politics. Which is fine for as long as you admit it, but when you report news as a neautral . and get paid by a news organisation to slant the news it isnt ethical.

Dan Rather's journalism career is surely over.
Probably not.
Given his stature with The American (and International) Left,
he WILL get a job/position/title somewhere in the world of (guffaw!) "journalism".
AND some sort of "visiting scholar" position at multiple universities.

I think you've misread my first complaint about the article: I'm not remotely against maligning Dan Rather, but I'm very much opposed to maligning Gunga Din (Gunga Dan?)--a noble, selfless gentleman--fictitious or not.

My understanding is that it was producer Mary Mapes, not Rather, who was in contact with the DNC.

Too bad FR can't retire Post Numbers like the Pros do with uniforms. Sports uniform numbers are just labels. Post numbers are functional. It would really screw up programming the Free Republic website to eliminate particular numbers.
