There's a big difference between deaths in the States due to crime or car accidents etc. and deaths in Iraq. It just plain sucks over there. Nobody wants to be there. I speak from first-hand knowledge. I've sent a couple dozen soldiers over there already (I'm a company commander in the National Guard). I'm just waiting until my unit as a whole gets tapped to go. I'll do my duty of course and soldier on. But in my opinion not one of those filthy scumbags is worth the life of any of my soldiers. F*** em'.

Excellent post. I have been waiting for something like this. I am sick of the crocodile tears being weeped by Kerry and the "News Media" about US Casualties. In 18 months, 1000+ casualties, while EMOTIONALY painful, is MILITARIAL insignificant. Take these one day casualty numbers into consideration.

Civilians KIA 9-11-04 2,818

US Military Casualties, 12-2-41 at Pearl Harbor 2616

US Casualties Omaha Beach 6-6-44 2000+

It's time the USA grow up. We are at war. People are dying. That is why you avoid war. However, we did not start this war, the Terrorists did on 9-11-01. To make sure more Civilians don't die, we are killing the terrorists and their allies in Iraq. It really is that simple. No amount of emotional hand wringing and pompous posturing by Leftist Politicans and "Journalist' will stop the killing. Killing off as many terrorists as possible that they realize the hopelessness of their politics will accomplish that security. Time to TOUGHEN UP America.

IMHO there is a BIG difference in Americans dying and being killed in order to defend our and others freedoms and those that loose their lives to car accidents, gang banging, violent murders, etc..

Comparing those numbers that died in Iraq to traffic accidents and crime in America only discredits those that gave their lives. It's a very low class, very offensive thing to do.

I don't remember who it was I heard speak last week,he pointed out that during peace,an average of 500 or so soldiers in training lose their lives every year. This puts the 1000+ casualties after 18 months of combat into perspective. He did not say whether the current count of casualties(1000+) includes those killed while training,or if it is in addition to those killed in training.

A different perspective:
Rain lashes Haitian storm survivors
Death toll tops 1,650; U.N. troops send reinforcements

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6004150/

A bit of history:
Selected Death Tolls for Wars, Massacres and Atrocities Before the 20th Century

http://users.erols.com/mwhite28/warstat0.htm#30YrW

Death in battle should not be a propaganda message. Fighting for one's freedom or to bring freedom to others should be a badge of honor, not something to be besmirched as a lost cause or a "senseless death".

I did not write this it is from an email I received.

Any life lost in a war is a tragedy, but it's important to keep things in Perspective.

There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq during the month of January.....

In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the month of January.

That's just one American city, about as deadly as the entire war torn country of Iraq.

When some claims President Bush shouldn't have started this war, remember the following:

FDR... led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us: Japan did.

From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year.

Truman... finished that war and started one in Korea, North Korea never attacked us.

From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,334 per year.

John F. Kennedy...started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us.

Johnson... turned Vietnam into a quagmire. Vietnam never attacked us.

From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year.

Clinton... went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent, Bosnia never attacked us.

Clinton was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing.

Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.

In the two years since terrorists attacked US..

President Bush has ..

liberated two countries,

crushed the Taliban,

crippled al-Qaida,

put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot,

and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.

The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking, but...

It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51 day operation.

We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find her Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick, drowning Mary Jo.

It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida!!!!

Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a GREAT JOB! The Military moral is high! The biased media hopes we are too ignorant to realize the facts.

PASS IT ON. If you can read this thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English thank a Veteran.

May God bless you and your family.

Modern Americans have no perspective. There were about 750 men killed in "Operation Tiger", the dry run for the Normandy invasion.

That we have defeated a large, modern army and occupied a country like Iraq with 1000 KIA is a military triumph of staggering historical precedence.

Yet the Kerrites will try their best to cast it as a "quagmire", for pure political gain. Same crap as Uncle Walter Concrete pulled at CBS during the Tet Offensive.
