I have to make a quick vanity post. The 2000 debates, with Gore's sighs, makeup job, and charging Bush's podium are legendary, but I was doing a lot of traveling at the time and did not get to see very much of them! I had the transcripts, but I wonder if they are archived and available for viewing somewhere. It would be a great introduction to this year's contests.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
You might check over at CSPAN's website, they were playing them this weekend.
Bush's nod to Gore was hilarious.
Go to C-Span.org. They have an archive for the 2000 debates with video.
In which debate (1,2 or 3) did Al Gore charge Bush's podium ?
Different world in 2000. Pre 9/11
That was Bush/Gore III. George W. Bush vs. Macho-Man Elevator Shoe Gore-bot.
My favorite debate was the one where Gore had the freaky make up on. I wasn't sure if I was watching a debate, or the Mikado.
Thanks again, folks. I really need to see Gore charging Bush in the 3rd debate. Now that we're focusing on the debates again, I really want to see it!
I never saw Jimmy Carter say "Hubert Horatio Hornblower" during the 1980 Dem convention either. Another legendary gaffe. The networks were very, very careful not to ever replay it.
Thanks - I couldn't ask for more. I knew one of the "computer savvy" people here would have the answer.
I will have to check for a "fast forward" function! LOL
Thanks.
Bush Gore Debate 3 about 10 minutes into the debate the whole thing starts :^D
I will definitely check this out! :)
