SPRING GREEN, Wis. Sept. 27, 2004 President Bush and rival John Kerry paused from private debate practice on Monday to accuse each other of lack of clarity on Iraq as they campaigned in "must win" states for each the Republican incumbent in Ohio and his Democratic challenger in Wisconsin.
Bush portrayed Kerry as indecisive on the war and Kerry accused the president of "still trying to hide" from voters the extent of what remains to be done in Iraq as both sides maneuvered for advantage ahead of Thursday's leadoff debate.
Meanwhile, the two campaigns sparred with dueling television ads on Iraq emphasizing the same themes.
In their Monday appearances, the two candidates auditioned themes certain to come up at the 90-minute showdown in Coral Gables, Fla., whose topic is foreign policy and national security.
Speaking at a town hall style meeting here not far from the hideaway resort where he is preparing for the debate, Kerry ridiculed Bush for saying in a television interview that he has no regrets over his "Mission Accomplished" speech aboard an aircraft carrier and would do it again.
"Since he said that, over 900 have given their lives for the country. The mission was not accomplished when he said it," Kerry said.
" He didn't know it and didn't understand it. It's not accomplished today. And he's still trying to hide from the American people what needs to be done in order to be successful in Iraq," Kerry added. Bush didn't actually say "mission accomplished," but spoke beneath a huge banner on the carrier bearing those words.

Ah, how much clearer can we be, sKerry?
John Kerry "hindsight is 20/20" NO PLAN FOR FUTURE
The initial mission was to topple Saddam. That is done. Like Bush has said from the beginning the War on Terrorists will take a long time.
Does everyone on the left have ADD.
That is true. He hasn't stated or given any proof that he believes in what he preaches. He'll probably be just like Jimmy Carter.
John Kerry wont end the war just yet...as there arent really enough MIA or POWs to sell
out to America's enemies and put a little green in JF Kerry's pocket...
With John F Kerry in charge....the military will empty out...and Kerry will have to bring back the draft or surrender....
Gee what would Kerry do?
imo
Apparently so!
I think most of us agree with you.
All the lies and sound bites from the left are really starting to amuse me. I wish I was interviewing some of the left spewers.
One of Florida's Dem senators when questioned about relief for Florida Citrus growers said that the problem was with the Whitehouse, Dept of Ag, and Congress. The White House has pledged support and the Dept of Ag will gladly disperse it, once Congress does something. But the left has to lie. I'm sure Kerry and Edwards have been present for the votes.
WWWWWAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH STOP PICKING ON ME.......WHINE WHINE WHINE......
Never!! LOL
During the initial phases of OIF thousands of soldiers/sailors and Marines and an extra Carrier Battlgrou were sent into the Persian Gulf, Kuwait and nearby Bahrain, Qatar, etc as an augmentation force... Because we really had no idea how hard Sadaam's million man army would be willing to fight. The purpose of the Mission Accomplished speech was to let us (The augmentation force) the extra folks..all know that the major combat operations were over and they were and so we would be going home.. Sadaam's army fell like dominoes...Note on the insurgency: The pace of the insurgency only picked up after the Democrats started with the Bush lied rhetoric and has steadily increased since now the Dems are spouting that we should't even be there and have embolden the enemy..
If Al Qaeda tries to attack Bush, I'm sure they'll have Kerry's support.
Next thing we know Mama T will be threatening to beat up Dubya if he doesn't stop picking on her boytoy.
meanwhile, lost in this story is the fact that Kerry has to campaign in Wisc. at all. Kerry is basically trying to convince voters that when it comes to Iraq, the President is just as bad as Kerry is. Brilliant strategy, brilliant in its simplicity and stupidity.
LOL
That's a MAJOR flaw!
John Kerry, "I'll do the same things as Bush, only uh better.
I live in Wisconsin and this photo with Kerry in the bar is bizzare. It is an obvious photo op that falls flat. The physical demeaner of the guy next to him makes me guess he's a republican. You can't just be chummy with everybody here just because you are some senator from out east. Real people in Wisconsin are very much thier own person and aren't in awe of other people. Especially those Wisconsinites who live up north. And I find it hard to believe Senetor Kerry is a beer drinker. I picture him as being a martini or tea person.
