Apparently this is the look the Kerry image team is shooting for for the debates.
They think it will fit in well with the Kerry program to slaughter human embryos for parts in medical experiments.

He looks bad. Furthermore, if he wanted to connect to Mr. and Mrs. Average Voter, he wouldn't prance around looking as if he'd just spent two weeks in Hawaii. He'd sport a bandaid from fixing something around the house and smacking his thumb with the hammer, something like that. Kerry just doesn't get it.
