I wonder if there is a reason why they all have to be from the left wing of the news media. I was really hopeful that we might get at least one who was not this time around.

Precisely. Not a "non-partisan" in the bunch.

My questions to the commission (another bureacracy we don't need) are these: Why do the moderators have to be journalists? Why not accomplished people from other professions? If they have to be from the broadly defined journalistic profession, why not someone like Brian Lamb, or Brit Hume, or some relatively unknown print reporters?

Alternatively, why not have openly partisan moderators? Two for each debate, one Democrat and one Republican? That would be much more honest than the pretense of choosing "non-partisans" Lehrer, Ifill, Gibson and Schieffer, who are really blatant Leftists. They wouldn't recognize genuine non-partisanship if they fell over it.
