That's a bit harsh. A small bit.
Speak for yourself. I'm a former Republican--and I've voted straight libertarian for years now. A few other people in my family are also former Republicans, as well. In fact, most of the libertarians that I know (and there are quite a few) are recovering Republicans.
If you think that our votes don't come from the right, you're just fooling yourself, pardner.
Obsessing on a tiny party whom they claim means nothing.
So why the obsession? Nothing to see here, move along folks.
Because the fair-tax is not a libertarian/capitalist proposal. Libertarians (and capitalists) oppose taxation by the government, period. The "fair tax" is a bit of a misnomer; there is no such thing as a "fair" tax, because taxation is achieved through force, and that is inherently unfair. The libertarian/capitalist group advocate complete elimination of taxation--not a "fair" tax.
The LP candidates REALLY try to hide those good ideas like open borders, unlimited abortion, same sex marriage and legalized drugs.
Here are some noted Republican icons to add to your collection of weed smokers.
"The Libertarian party has some great ideas; unfortunately, Libertarians are the world's biggest idiots when it comes to selling them. At their C-SPAN-televised convention, do they talk about the Fair Tax and how it will end the IRS and boost the economy through the stratosphere? No! They run a video on drug legalization!"
Here Here!
If they would stay on message, Bill of Rights Enforcement, smaller (to admitedly non-existant) government, no meddling in business, they would pick up folks in droves.
Heck, they'd be the constitution party!...............or not, never mind.
Dope promoting leftist are NOT MY kind of Republican pard. Maybe you're finally in the right party. Say what you want but if you crawl like a rat and vote like a rat .... well you get the picture.
So you pick one part of the platform and base your entire picture of the party from that?
The GOP platform talks about supporting the World Bank and funding health care in developing countries--is that your kind of Republican Party? The platform says that the GOP is committed to lasting organizations like the United Nations. Is that your kind of Republican Party? The point of all this is that while you might not like one plank of the platform, there is more to life than one plank of a platform.
I'm not going to get into a debate with you, but the fact is that there are Republicans that are leaving to go the LP. I'm one of them. My dad is one of them. My brother is one of them. My friends are some of them.
Like I said before, if you think the LP is completely made of up lefties, you're living in a fantasy land.
You are right about one thing--I AM in the right party.
Not with a stick, and I'm a libertarian.
