You know, that is an under-used, and VERY effective, show of support: show up at the recruiter's office, or the National Guard armories, and just bring some cookies, or munchies, or something.

It comes as a surprise to the troops, big time.

"Why should I sign-up, Grandpa?"

It's done Sarge.

I called a local family owned pizza parlor and ordered 4 for the guys at the recruiting office. I talked to the owner and he decided to match my order with pizzas for the guys in the offices at the armory in Jackson.

The pizza shop owner also says he will put out a donation jar on his counter and says he will bring the subject up at the chamber of commerce meeting.
