Parents need to organize groups and confront the schools about their security measures. The lone concerned parent here and there might not communicate the need for tighter security. I think Civilian Police Academy training is a good idea and parents who have a few hours a day should insist on volunteering to patrol the school grounds and buildings.

I like the sound of: "APTO":

(Armed Parent & Teacher Organization: ---"meets first Saturday of the month at the local firing range")

I Like the idea of armed ROTC training in area high schools. ARMED members of the coast guard and national guard auxilary in all CA coastal and border community school campuses, with radios that connect directly to swat teams in the county and school districts... as well as basic side arms for perimeter walks.

Lots of very healthy older military men would love to do it one day a week... say 55-65 or more years of age.... as long as they are healthy and can shoot straight. Maybe such seniors could make some extra money doing 'guard' duty of the REAL variety.
