Kerry can not have facial expressions he has BOTOX. Pres. was biting his cheek big woop. People made fun of the rule breaking coverage.

When I checked AOL it was Bush 56% and Kerry 44% out of 8,000 voters.

you're absolutely right, alas. this was not the president's finest hour. there were a hundred places where he could have, with a smile on his face and love in his heart, dismembered kerry. and he didn't. he was defensive the entire time, and it came off poorly. there is no way to argue rationally that bush won the debate.

here's hoping most people watched the football game.

That in my opinion was Kerry's weakness showing, he will do away with our nuclear weapons to show we are "sensitive". Then only terrorists will have nuclear weapons!

You know, it's interesting. Bush MUST be reelected to insure the safety of America. And he played to middle class America. IMHO he was very effective. You see, it doesn't matter what the MSM says. It matters how America votes. And America will vote the man with the most common sense. And that was Bush.

I almost expected Kerry to say "I'm going to put the bunker busters in a lock box."

The Prez was the Prez, and he was fine.

too many nervous nelllies here ... Relax everyone. Get some perspective. Micro analyzing every little comment isn't how the target audience works.

Agreed!

I don't agree....I watched the debates and Kerry looked figity and irritated (like he was about to pee himself). Someone put to much blush on Lurch this evening...he looked very FRENCH this evening. He also appeared to be doodling at the podium while Bush LED the debate.

President Bush was calm and collected throughout and was the winner of this one folks, and the Absentee Senator was condescending.

Just caught a few brief snippets on Fox...

Mor-TON said that BUSH started strong and forceful...momentum swung later, BUT BY THEN, MANY FOLKS HAD LOST INTEREST AND SWITCHED CHANNELS

Kristol said Kerry "survived."

At the absolute worst, this debate was a draw. Bush and Kerry both had some highs and some lows. Both worked in their talking points, Kerry probably a few more.

Absent any outright gaffes, nobody's vote was changed tonight. For my money, W. did exactly what he needed to do. :)

Would multiple threads give a better response? The response time is molasses in January.

RIRI WROTE: "Bush better have somebodies ass tonight, he came across as completely unprepared. He never hammered home just WTF this big master plan is? Where is this money coming from? It was like Bush kept walking into Kerry's punches. Man, I was not expecting this."

It is easy to be prepared when you have the questions ahead of time, which Kerry CLEARLY did."

As I said in an earlier post, it is clear that Kerry had the questions ahead of time. He even admitted to that fact when he indicated, with certainty, that he would finish his answer when the [future] question on homeland security came up later in the debate.

I know that Kerry is a lying, opportunistic bastard. But, tonight, he is a polished, prepared and articulate lying opportunistic bastard. I don't think that this will cost Bush any of the support of those already committed. But, I don't see him picking up any undecided votes unless feminine intuition can reach through the TV and see Kerry through his facade.

An excellent first post. I turned on the first three minutes of this debate and turned it right off again, only to return for the last five minutes. What I saw did not make me happy. I can only take comfort in the fact that the electorate already knows that Bush stumbles over his words and they may continue supporting him after he did so again tonight. If not, I'm going to spend the next four years tuned out of politics altogher, reading Agatha Christie novels, which I revert too under severe stress. (Like labor pains.)

Here comes the ABC poll.....45% Kerry win, 36% Bush, 17% tie. Did preferences change? Yes, Bush PICKED UP one point! LOL

hahahaha-basically Kerry is not making any good points - and he has to - he tries hard to be deep voiced and act "commanding"
but he just sounds silly
President Bush is sometimes a little wandering - but he has made all the points he needs to already..
WOOHOO
4 more years!! amen!!
all my friends watching all over america tonight say Bush by 7pts!!

President Bush was himself tonight....hes never been a great speaker, thats NOTHING new, but hes a GREAT PRESIDENT!!

I came in in the middle, first on radio where it sounded like Kerry was 'winning', then on TV where I think W had a very slight edge.

I neither heard nor saw the particular exchange, but I'm not sure it was a mistake not to reply to a bald accusation of lying. Too many people regard defending oneself against accusations is 'defensiveness' which (thanks to the popularization of psychotheraputic culture) they regard as a bad thing.

Will he need a draft to meet that?

Clearly Kerry desperately wants a draft. So, we have to ask ourselves, "Why?"

Is it possible he would use the draft to further his social agendas? To draft women despite the failure of ERA? To prop gays up in a very effective way? To control young people after High School? (18 is not long enough, apparently.)

Kerry admitted his murderous tendencies when he said he would "Hunt down and kill" the terrorists. No trial, no courts, no Geneva convention, no laws: just "kill". Very Clintonesque (just eliminate the obstacles).
