I agree, There's another thread on Free Republic that lists the questions that were asked. If you just read throught the questions and don't think about the answers its easy to see how they're biased toward sKerry.

Also the questions Kerry was asked were just too conveniently worded to look like a follow on to his previous response. This really looked like some kind of ambush.

(shrug) Bush got some tough questions about a tough subject that a lot of people disagree about. That he didn't do very well isn't suprising, and his poor performace isn't enough to try, convict, and hang a seasoned moderator like Jim Lehrer.

Who would you pick instead that would be acceptable to both Republicans and Democrats and could be trusted to run an impartial debate?

I agree...that question was a trap, and W handled it perfectly! I was holding my breath!

I hate to fall into the conspiracy crowd, but I think they may be on to something.

Te reason being, everytime I have watched Kerry - whether in an interview or speech - he comes off terribly. Very unpolished, unconfident, not likeable and frankly not intelligent.

Remember the 60 minutes interview with Stahl? She lobbed in him softball after softball, and he came off like an idiot.
What about is freaking speech at the convention?

Something was wierd about that debate.

I don't think Kerry was scripted. I think he was too calm because he NEVER GOT ANY HARD QUESTIONS!!! It's a lot easier to be calm in that situation!

To the average guy, Kerry is unlikeable. He has no redeeming qualities - stiff, snobbish, preachy. His crowd is the elite intellectual type - unfortunately for him, there's not enough of them to push him over the top.

Why is ONE moderator needed? Let the Dims select someone to ask Bush questions. Let the GOP select someone to question Kerry.

Mushhead Lehrer blurts out how much he loved Watergate because as he opines: If it wasn't for Watergate there wouldn't be any Pubic Broadcasting any more.

Why oh why do we continue to fund the left wing airwaves of PBS?

Lehrer barely had the question mark out of his mouth before kerry was answering - not even pretending he had to think about the answer - a programmed robot.

Thanks for posting those links. The transcript of the debate was a good read...the second 'look', without seeing the President's somewhat disconcerting expressions, and kind of overall tired demeanor, makes it clear to me how well he performed in toto.
Reading it, sans the 'style stuff' on both sides, makes it clear that President Bush won on substance.
