My daughter said John Kerry is comming to our school next Tuesday. (Tipton, Iowa). She made comments of wearing a Bush T-Shirt or yelling something. Though I am proud of her moxie (she's in 7th grade), I told her to be respectful and that this actually will be an exciting event for her to remember.

THe super at this school should realize the same thing.

Didn't pass the "global test", eh?

Idiots.

They've deprived the children the chance of a lifetime.

since when is respect for the Commander in Chief 'divisive?' This only reveals the leanings of the Super's politics.

Bingo!

This is so disrespectful. That's the lesson they are teaching the kids AND they've just denied the kids a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Now we have "separation" [gone wild] of kids from everything civic. Weird, weird stuff.

No, the superintendent in IN that had a girl suspended for singing for the President was a guy. They're all cut from the same cloth.

You are right, ladylib ... my bad. I guess my radar was up and I read something into the "SHE said they wanted to remain bipartisan ... " or something to that effect. But you are right - they are all cut from the same cloth.

Let's guess...

50 kids in the band =

100 parents+200 close extended familty members =
300 pissed off voters in swing state PA. More likely to pay for Bush.

Let's send this Super a thank you note.

More than ever. When I went to public school our superintendent never would have pulled a trick like this silly woman did even if he didn't appreciate the President's politics. I remember our American history teacher telling us that the office of the President should be respected no matter what you think of him personally and our school administration would have been thrilled for the students to have such an opportunity.

Public schools were so much different back then. Many of the people running them today are an absolute disgrace.

" "The school superintendent announced the decision Thursday. SHE said it's a public school district and doesn't want to be divisive."

Hate to sound sexist here and all that ... but I think I see the root of the problem on this one."

Your village is looking for you.

Sean King, the director of marketing for the U.S. Scholastic Band Association, said he can't recall a high school band ever turning down an invitation to play for the president.

Mine did. We were invited to play for Reagan while he was unveiling a new statue in Baltimore, and our band director turned the gig down. The local Catholic school band went instead. I surely wish I had had that opportunity to see Reagan live.

Who wants to be the public skool superintendent is a NEA member and hates Bush?

Who the hell is she to deny her kids the opportunity to play for a sitting US President? She should be suspended immediately.

I think you are right, there is a really big story here. I hope some junior cyber journalist will pursue it and plaster it all over the web. People deserve to know about the brain washing that goes on in the public school systems and this a prime example.

Dear Ms. Donohue:

I was saddened to learn about your decision to not have your High School band perform for the President. I never heard of such a thing. Why on Earth would you not want to play for the President? You don't want to seem partisan? Partisan to whom? My son is a musician and would jump at the chance to perform for the President for both the exposure and the experience. I wonder if you would allow your band to perform for Kofi Annon, if offered. Good job, you now have made your school the laughing stock of the State.

-- I just emailed this to the Superintendent. I guess she didn't take into account the Revenge of the Pajama Bloggers, ha ha he he.

The band from Parkland High School said it wants to remain neutral in the presidential race.

Odd statement from a group of students who are NOT ELIGIBLE TO VOTE.

Your village is looking for you.

Oh really? Which village would that be LeftCoastRebel? The one that understands and accepts the fact that 80% of all Teachers' Unions are manned by women - most of whom lean left. Or the village that understands that when the woman comes forward to immediately claim "unbias" as a reason ... it's usually because there is bias. Men are typically much less vague with their replies as we tend to be defensive in these situations. But liberal women in these positions, they immediately use words like "devisive," "feelings," "fair and unfair," and "our children," when they are covering up the true nature of the beast that has been presented.

Just my humble opinion - and you are entitled to yours. I find your innuendo insulting LeftCoastRebel ... but I understand your need to do so given your obvious ignorance, your left coast leanings and failure to comment on the issue rather than my personal opinion.

Folks, leave this woman alone! Seriously. Find out what you want about her, but not harrass her. Last thing we want is for the new found notoriety of "the blogs" to be turned into a fear of them (us) and those Evihl conservatives who bully people who don't agree with them.

I say leave her alone, find out more about her, and if there is anything that warrants it, just send it to the media.
