There was certainly no knockout punch thrown, which every pundit said Kerry would have to do to have a chance on election day.

Two Notes: Did anyone else notice how Kerry's hands were shaking? The guy was scared to death.

My nephew called 30 minutes into the debate. He's not political at all. He hates Bush, but he was registering to vote today after seeing what jerk Kerry is in the debates. He's twenty and he is really disgusted by lanky senator.

non-truths, inconsistancies, and at least 2 gaffes ...it all came off very elloquently.

That's how the worthless neer-do-well keeps getting elected.

The stock market is up strongly today. That tells me that Bush won the debate.

Lockhart (Kerry campaign) said it was a draw, off camera. So Bush won.

The MSM is working overtime on the point of Kerry erasing his flip flops. (are they stoned?)

Kerry only reinforced his whining, french posterior licking, sissy boy status.

According to everyone I have spoken with this morning, there was no clear "winner" to the debate.

It seemed to me to be nothing more than a forum for stating both sides talking points that we have all heard repeatedly over the months.

It does not seem that this debate will change the mind of many voters at all in my opinion.

Kerry put out lies and canards that fully half the long time freepers could have seized on, refuted, and given Kerry a spanking. W didn't. We ask "Why?" Does the Bush team wan't to keep the race close until the end of Oct.?

TV is ALL about STYLE. The media culture is so self-absorbed that style (eg--haircuts, hand gestures, number of times 'um' or 'er' was said) is always important.

The only thing missing from the debate was Reactive-crowd-screaming, which is another TV media staple.

The bigger thing is--media is never satiatied. So after killing the current topic to death, they will eagerly move on to the next choice piece of meat, and rip that one apart.

All I am saying is that Reagan came back in the second debate. Not necessarily for the same reason Bush will.

Be gone, Troll!

I agree that the stock market is a good indicator. If Kerry had won it would be down on fears of a Kerry Presidency. Also, last night the Iowa Presidential Market was showing Bush trades up and Kerry trades down

From the S&P:
"10/01/2004 - 11:10am EDT... Stocks rallying on signs of economic strength..."

No mention of the debates or whether traders thought Bush won. We have a month before the election...an eon in politics and traders are not going to bet on the outcome until much closer to Nov. 2.

Stocks rallying on signs of economic strength

I read that the economic data showed that consumer confidence is down. Not rally news in the least.

The TV Analysts and talking heads don't know squat - Kerry lost.

And he lost because my apolitical 'security mom' wife went absolutely ballistic with Kerry's constant blathering about 'Diplomacy', 'Talking' and the 'International Community' when people are trying to kill us all.

And when I explained Kerry's 'Global Test' to her after the debate, she had to words about Kerry;

"A$$ Hole!

So I know that there must be a few million other previously "undecided security moms" that will now be voting for Dubya.

Kerry had spent the day, a pampered, poufed, petulant paramour to a rich woman, being spray tanned, manicured, and pedicured. President Bush spent the day touring the storm ravaged state of Florida, then came home to the family he has supported himself, and cut his own nails with clippers. Bush made Poodle Boy look like Ned in the First Reader on many, many points. Kerry WAS annoying and Bush was right to look annoyed at some of the preposterous, contrived remarks.

Then, when TeRAYza waddled up onto the stage and gave him another of those barely tolerated hugs (cute at 20, silly looking at 65) and in contrast President Bush's family, grateful to him for his support of them, came up gladly to greet their MAN.

Oh, and Kerry's comment that he would eliminate the "bunker busting" missiles in all this "nuclear proliferation" going
on; I thought surely he must be the most naive creature on the globe. What does he think dispatched the terrorists in the mountains of Afghanistan? Where does he think the terrorists hide? In Macy's Department Store window?

Also, "Vladimir" (first name basis with world leaders) in
contrast with Kerry's numerous unfortunate "Pooting" pronunciations of "Putin" . . . . mercy, he needs to lighten up on the grammar deal and drop the "g" once in a while! - and don't zot me for crudeness. I'm not making fun of Vladimir!

"...On the NBC Nightly News, Campbell Brown passed along pablum from Jimmy Carter as she noted how he predicted a repeat of 2000 because "Florida's top election officials favor President Bush. One example, he argues, they've tried to keep some minorities, more likely to vote Democratic, off the rolls." ..."

I think I despise Jimmah Cahtah more than any other politician, past or future, and more even than the most partisan RAT fringe dwellers. Michael Moore even comes out above Cahtah, since I don't equate an individual citizen with a (former) POTUS. How did this nation ever elect a man who so despises his own country?

Kerry didn't win.

Yeah, he trounced him. Look, the issue is not whether or not Kerry 'won' the debate (rest assured that he most thoroughly did). The guy is a very good public speaker - why deny the fact?

However, just like in chess, one false move can doom a game 10 moves down the line. Kerry became overconfident and let down his guard. He will rue the day he even mentioned such iniatives as 'bi-lateral action with NK' or 'global test'.

In a few days, there will be hazy memories of how well Kerry did in the debate. They will be subsumed by more substantive issues of what he really said during those 90 minutes.

My favorite is where he proposed giving nuclear fuel to the Iranians.
