TV Analysts: Kerry Won; Media to Shape Coverage in Kerry's Favor

From ABC to NBC, with FNC in agreement too, TV reporters and analysts concluded after Thursday's presidential debate that John Kerry won and has thus revived his campaign. CBS and ABC conducted instant polls which showed a Kerry triumph. CBS took input from a mere 200 "uncommitted" people. Though ABC's poll found no change in who those polled support, George Stephanopoulos was so excited about Kerry's debate victory that he trumpeted CBS's numbers before he made a prediction which he and his colleagues can assure comes true: "That's going to start to frame the coverage coming out." Post-debate assessments fulfilled predictions made by NBC's Tim Russert and Newsweek Editor Jon Meacham that if the press perceived Kerry as doing well, "he could get a very good buzz going immediately," as Russert put it. Meacham saw an "imperative" to "change the narrative" because journalists are tired of Bush being in the lead. On MSNBC, Ron Reagan declared Kerry "the clear winner" since he was "better informed, he was more presidential." CNN's NewsNight featured a guest who called Kerry the winner and charged that Bush "got his ass whooped."

Yeah, Hitler used to swoon the masses, too. Doesn't mean either one of them, Kerry or Hitler, told the truth. Just hypnotic speakers to the unwashed. Bush is a real man. I prefer a real Texas man like George.

Kerry didn't win. All he did was NOT embarrass himself too badly. His "hand jive" made it almost impossible to follow what he was saying.

Kerry doesn't know crap. All he did was spout out some well-polished BS. Bush may not be the best speaker, but he had substance.

Bush is like Reagan in several respects. Reagan was also a "slow starter" at times. He lost the first debate with Mondale in '84 but in the second debate, whooped Mondale's behind with "I will not make age an issue in this campaign. I'm not going to exploit for political purposes my opponents youth and inexperience." Classic line and we know how that election turned out.

I heard Joe Trippi on the radio say that no unbiased voter would conclude that Bush won. I thought unbiased and Joe Trippi should never be in the same sentence. He, however, did not predict that Kerry could ride this to victory.

The MSM is trying to drum up ratings for the next debates. Remember when they MSM was having orgasms over the fact Gore won such and such a debate?

The MSM totall skipped over the zingers that Bush Gave Kerry.

Rush Limbaugh is going to be a MUST LISTEN RADIO today.

Kerry exercised exactly the same techniques of distortion, doubletalk, and self-contradiction that he always employs. I still don't understand his position on Iraq or the WoT. Did anyone out there get clarification on those issues?

The media will find some way to "shape coverage in Kerry's favor" no matter what. Nothing new, really, except that they still think they can get away with it in the era of New Media.

The stock market is up strongly today. That tells me that Bush won the debate.

Kerry's responses were riddled with non-truths, inconsistancies, and at least 2 gaffes(1 being a major one, IMO). BUT, it all came off very elloquently. Bush on the otherhand, made excellent points but stammered around them. Not pretty. We'll see what the public has to say about it. Wednesday latest we should know. My guess is that the race will tighten slightly but by mid Oct, it will be Bush with 6-8pnt lead again.

In these dueling infomercials you may have a clear winner and loser. I doubt it though because I doubt they will change a single vote. I heard on the news or read somewhere of a brain dead woman last night that said with relief, "Now I know that Kerry won't be soft on terrorists."

Is there a functioning adult who thinks she wouldn't have voted for Kerry anyway, assuming she can locate her polling place?

Symbolism over substance.

Fox is now crossed to the MSM with all the talk of "cutaway shots".

Did you see the segment from THE DAILY SHOW with Jon Stewart, whom I assume to be a liberal, that made fun of Kerry's interview with Diane Sawyer this week. She asked him if the Iraq war was a mistake or not. He talked and talked and talked and didn't answer the question. She asked him again and again and he went on and on blah blah blah, and didn't answer her question. Each time they would show her question, Kerry's droning on and on and on response of no substance... then Jon Stewart making a face like "What the hell is Kerry saying" After four questions which Diane asked, and Kerry talked around in circles without answering her, Jon had his head on his desk, totally frustrated. It was GREAT. Brit Hume showed it on his show. Shows the frustrations of the left to even understand Kerryisms.

I agree that the stock market is a good indicator. If Kerry had won it would be down on fears of a Kerry Presidency.

Also, last night the Iowa Presidential Market was showing Bush trades up and Kerry trades down

I like the Daily Show. I can't think of one show where I have not laughed out loud. Sure he's a lib, but I can take it. John Stuart is one of the wittiest guys around, IMO.

I was stuck watching the debates on cnn, I noticed at the end of the debate, cnn would not show footage of the the president with his family.
the only clips they showed where when the first lady kind of put her arm around teraaaaza and when John Kerry shook hands with the pres.
The remaining shots where of Kerry and his sugarmama, is the M.S.M afraid of showing bush standing next to his family?
