Yeah, Hitler used to swoon the masses, too. Doesn't mean either one of them, Kerry or Hitler, told the truth. Just hypnotic speakers to the unwashed. Bush is a real man. I prefer a real Texas man like George.
Kerry didn't win. All he did was NOT embarrass himself too badly. His "hand jive" made it almost impossible to follow what he was saying.
Kerry doesn't know crap. All he did was spout out some well-polished BS. Bush may not be the best speaker, but he had substance.
Bush is like Reagan in several respects. Reagan was also a "slow starter" at times. He lost the first debate with Mondale in '84 but in the second debate, whooped Mondale's behind with "I will not make age an issue in this campaign. I'm not going to exploit for political purposes my opponents youth and inexperience." Classic line and we know how that election turned out.
Yes, well, there's trouble in River City, yes, right here in River City....
I heard Joe Trippi on the radio say that no unbiased voter would conclude that Bush won. I thought unbiased and Joe Trippi should never be in the same sentence. He, however, did not predict that Kerry could ride this to victory.
The MSM is trying to drum up ratings for the next debates. Remember when they MSM was having orgasms over the fact Gore won such and such a debate?
The MSM totall skipped over the zingers that Bush Gave Kerry.
Rush Limbaugh is going to be a MUST LISTEN RADIO today.
The media will find some way to "shape coverage in Kerry's favor" no matter what. Nothing new, really, except that they still think they can get away with it in the era of New Media.
The stock market is up strongly today. That tells me that Bush won the debate.
Kerry's responses were riddled with non-truths, inconsistancies, and at least 2 gaffes(1 being a major one, IMO). BUT, it all came off very elloquently. Bush on the otherhand, made excellent points but stammered around them. Not pretty. We'll see what the public has to say about it. Wednesday latest we should know. My guess is that the race will tighten slightly but by mid Oct, it will be Bush with 6-8pnt lead again.
Is there a functioning adult who thinks she wouldn't have voted for Kerry anyway, assuming she can locate her polling place?
Close race...good for ratings. Sells papers. Etc.
Kerry didn't win, he simply postponed W. "clinching" the elction before the (campaign) regular season is over.
I was stuck watching the debates on cnn, I noticed at the end of the debate, cnn would not show footage of the the president with his family.
the only clips they showed where when the first lady kind of put her arm around teraaaaza and when John Kerry shook hands with the pres.
The remaining shots where of Kerry and his sugarmama, is the M.S.M afraid of showing bush standing next to his family?
According to everyone I have spoken with this morning, there was no clear "winner" to the debate.
It seemed to me to be nothing more than a forum for stating both sides talking points that we have all heard repeatedly over the months.
It does not seem that this debate will change the mind of many voters at all in my opinion.
You could have bet the ranch on it!
TV is ALL about STYLE. The media culture is so self-absorbed that style (eg--haircuts, hand gestures, number of times 'um' or 'er' was said) is always important.
The only thing missing from the debate was Reactive-crowd-screaming, which is another TV media staple.
The bigger thing is--media is never satiatied. So after killing the current topic to death, they will eagerly move on to the next choice piece of meat, and rip that one apart.
And he lost because my apolitical 'security mom' wife went absolutely ballistic with Kerry's constant blathering about 'Diplomacy', 'Talking' and the 'International Community' when people are trying to kill us all.
And when I explained Kerry's 'Global Test' to her after the debate, she had to words about Kerry;
"A$$ Hole!
So I know that there must be a few million other previously "undecided security moms" that will now be voting for Dubya.
"...On the NBC Nightly News, Campbell Brown passed along pablum from Jimmy Carter as she noted how he predicted a repeat of 2000 because "Florida's top election officials favor President Bush. One example, he argues, they've tried to keep some minorities, more likely to vote Democratic, off the rolls." ..."
I think I despise Jimmah Cahtah more than any other politician, past or future, and more even than the most partisan RAT fringe dwellers. Michael Moore even comes out above Cahtah, since I don't equate an individual citizen with a (former) POTUS. How did this nation ever elect a man who so despises his own country?
Yeah. This is going to be a very ugly media campaign. Let us not forget who the MSM really are, not the friends they pretend to be.
And Scarborough also thought Kerry's speech at the DNC was his best speech ever.
