Mexican migrants marched Friday from the Pacific Ocean to Tijuana's airport, where they hung an empty casket to mark the 10th anniversary of a U.S. border crackdown blamed for contributing to thousands of migrant deaths.
The U.S. Border Patrol launched Operation Gatekeeper on Oct. 1, 1994, to end a flood of crossings from Tijuana to San Diego. The agency doubled the number of agents in San Diego, erected fences and installed brighter lights.

Uh...don't illegally cross the border and sneak across our deserts, and you won't die in them. Simple, huh?
Don't drink and drive, and you probably won't hit anyone or lose your license.
Don't smoke cigarettes, and you probably won't develop lung cancer or emphysema.

Nobody crosses a dessert just to get a job.
Well, actually they are thanks to NAFTA disrupting Mexico's traditional economy. The administration is poised to float the FTAA treaty (what's 32 more countries messed up and providing refugees?) shortly before the elections. I encourage everyone to raise the highest stink to prevent it, as there's absolutely nothing gained for Americans by it being passed (except one more step toward being a little state in a world government).
