The entire board of directors and advisory board of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Minnesota resigned Monday, citing frustrations with its fading authority to the national organization.
Tensions between the Minnesota chapter and the national leadership were first noticed in a public dispute in 1996 over a hunting trip granted by the foundation, which fulfills wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses. Since then, the local board feels its control has been evaporating on issues ranging from paying leaders; to donations for families of children who die before their wishes are granted; to limiting the length of board terms.
"Philosophical differences the Minnesota chapter has had with the national foundation makes it impossible for us to continue," said resigning board president Karla Blomberg, who co-founded the Minnesota chapter in 1982.

A-hole activist at the national level have made it impossible for a dying kid to go on a once-in-a-life time hunt. The former head and just-resigned board member was on local radio today and she said anything with firearms is now prohibited. Karla Blomberg also said that she had her life threatened over granting the 1996 hunt. She says the average wish costs $5000 and the most popular is sending a family to Disney. Sad that people can put an animal before a dying kid.

This kind of publicity is going to cause a drop in donations nationwide.

Why can't the same people start a local only group to accomplish the same thing? It an be called "Last Wish Foundation", or any of an infinite number of names to accomplish the same thing.

They'll go the way of United Way, they'll slowly bleed to death as they advocate PC, liberal policies in a cause that should have nothing to do with politics. I will never give them a cent.

It's all about CP, ya know ya can't have no local control unless it fits between the lines. Oh, ya and You don't get to draw the lines no more. MN should start anew with, "Fulfill a Prayer" and do it their own way!

Well looks like another organization has made it to my list with United Way. Sorry this was such a good idea until the P.C.'s took over. Boy Scouts look for more money from me. Actually this is getting easier. I have fewer checks to write.

I'm thinking of starting a new non-profit group to help terminally ill kids, and call it "The Let's do something REALLy cool before you die Foundation"... since all the good names have already been taken...

This sounds like a job for Jimmy Carter! He can go in and negotiate a settlement and in a few years the Make-A-Wish Foundation will have atomic weapons.

If the Make-A-Wish Foundation sends a child to Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch..the kid needs to be armed.

FR has taken over the Make a Wish Foundation:
"Please, Mister, I want to bitch slap a few Liberals before I go."
"Sure, son, we'll see what we can do."
