I saw every minute of the debate. I'll agree that Kerry "won" the debate if by winning we mean he looked smoother, more polished (and not just his nails), more articulate, and more prepared.
However, can someone be said to have won a debate if it didn't persuade anyone?
While I was disappointed with Bush's performance, and admit that technically, I'd have to say Kerry won, there is less than a zero percent chance I would vote for him. I'd probably vote for Mariah Carey rather than John Kerry.
So Kerry still lost.
It is shorthand for "bump to the top", putting the article up on the active thread list.
I thought Kerry's latest ad (running in PA) is sickening. He wants to lower taxes (yeah, Bush is the only Prez that's lowered my taxes, Clinton raised them). He attacks the Saudi Royal Family (if Kerry gets in, we'll have another regime collapse like what happened with Iran in 1979, we'll have hostages taken and helicopters crashing in the desert. Damn Democrats never learn.)
bump to the top. It helps keep a good thread going.
bttt=bump to the top...
which is used just to keep this thread at the top of the page, with current activity in the hope that others will view it...it's a way of keeping a thread alive without adding a comment.
Sheesh! What a dope. 'their = they're'.
Kerry clearly got at least a small bounce. Whether it lasts remains to be seen. Margin of Error, people; This is why we need more than one poll to find out movements.
And if they are successful in electing Kerry, it's a coup d'etat, pure and simple.
Please excuse my igorance, who does the bttt? and where do you do it? This is all new to me.
The person posting "bttt"...in lieu of a reply.
That works the same as a post. Sometimes people don't have anything to add to the thread, but want to bring other people's attention to a valuable thread, so they just type bttt and that has the effect of a new post.
Then there is CBS, which, despite its parent company, is a reasonable poll. The rest are showing no movement. It would be ridiculous for the electorate to swing too much based on one lousy debate. If Kerry managed to kick butt on all 3 debates, maybe he could overcome his deficit or if Bush makes a huge mistake.
Chances are, Bush will do well with debate 2 and Kerry will cause another self-inflicted wound.
Last Thursday changed my mind, and I now plan to vote for Kerry. I'm all for JFK heading into the mountains and caves of Afghanistan to engage bin Laden in a debate. I also vote that he be protected by all the might of the US armed forces -- that, as senator, he supported with his vote.
Johnny boy, you reported for duty. Mission selected. Good luck.
Thanks for the help.
That is the new line, is it?
First, this weekend, it was all despair. We were going to lose, the numbers were in a dive.
Now we discover it is essentially what I and others said, meaning, no real effect on the race and that is supposed to be cause for concern?
I know some people have this mistaken belief that the debate was going to end this election but you do not understand it is not about kerry. This is a Pro Bush/Pro America vs ABB/ABAmerica race. This will be fought to the finish and at the end, I think Americans are going to do the right thing. But do not look for a significant change in the final days. Even if one were to occur, the MSM has taken pre-cautions with the polls to ensure it is not detected.
The only point I agree on is that the ABB/ABAmerica crowd was partilly energized after the debate, but it only takes one event to diminish their hopes again. To that end, it would help to have some improvement in performance because a good performances demoralizes the Dem crowd. A good or bad performance should NEVER demoralize us, though. It was a mistake to allow it to this weekend.
This is about where Fox has been. But I think they overpoll Democrats because Bush has support of 90% of Republicans, Kerry has 80% Democrats, and Bush leads among Independents 50-39. But he only has a three point lead? Does that make sense?
Now we see the Fox poll has been more on the money. 4 weeks ago, when all here were decrying them for not having Bush up high enough, they were trashed.
My bets - Fox, WaPost/ABC, and Rasmussen are right.
I'm not going to watch the debate live on Friday. I will check in with Free Republic to get the news. My nerves are shot.
Yesterday's polls took out some of that life...Dick Morris put it back in...I don't like him.
I hear you...just pray long and hard for him prayers can will work miracles.
