GOP Campaign Urges Post-Debate Spin (Fight fire with fire)
AP via Yahoo ^

Posted on 10/05/2004 2:30:15 PM PDT by MaineRepublic

WASHINGTON - The assignment: go forth and spin. The objective: win the battle of the post-debate polls. The Bush-Cheney campaign is urging supporters to go online after Tuesday's debate between Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites) and Sen. John Edwards (news - web sites) in hopes of defeating what it calls the "Kerry campaign spin machine."

Operatives for Democratic candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) "managed to mask their candidate's flip-flops on the war in Iraq (news - web sites)" after last week's presidential debate, Bush campaign manager Ken Mehlman wrote in a letter to supporters.

"If we plan to win the election, we must fight back against their spin and make sure our friends and neighbors get the truth," Mehlman said.

A candidate's performance can attract undecided voters, but what happens afterward is equally important, Mehlman said.

"People's perceptions are shaped as much by their conversations around the water coolers as by the debates themselves," the letter said.

The e-mail, which was sent early Tuesday, asks supporters to vote in online polls, conducted by most major networks after the debate, and to print debate fact checks to spread the word. Bush loyalists also were encouraged to post their views in message boards targeting swing-state voters, chat in person and online with would-be voters, and forward the GOP's e-mail call-to-arms to five friends.

Kerry campaign spokesman Phil Singer said the Democrat's supporters are being encouraged to make their views known after the vice presidential debate, especially in light of the what he called "the lesson of 2000," when Al Gore (news - web sites)'s debate performance against George W. Bush suffered from negative buzz after a few days.

"What they fail to understand is that spin is worthless if you put in a bad performance during the debate," Singer said. "We were successful after the debate in Miami because John Kerry was successful during the debate."

NRO's KerrySpot has an article on this and the Rats sending the e-mails in too early. This is too funny:

"UPDATE: Arrrrrgh. The Bush campaign is now doing this too. Stop it! Spin spam isn't good for anyone! UPDATE, AGAIN: Kerry Spot reader Jeremy has apparently already heard back from an Ohio paper. The Ohio paper's profanity-laden response: You ******* moron. You're supposed to send out your dumb*** spin letters after the debate — not four hours before it starts. All you do is **** editors off with this ****. Do you understand how many of these things we get? Do you understand how easy they are to spot? I'm a life-long Democrat, but I'm so embarrassed by how **** dumb the minions of my party are. You guys are less street smart than those guys named Scooter who work for Bush. No wonder we keep getting our ***** kicked.

I have to wipe the tears of laughter away."

We should send them stoopid ones supporting Edwards' performance...

Kerry Spot has at the end of the DNC article a combined list of media outlets, which you can contact. DNC has once again sent out mass e-mails like last week to flood the media after the debate to declare Edwards the winner. Well, I took it a step further and contacted the media this afternoon declaring Edwards the loser as per DNC request. Just having a little fun. Everyone, go to Kerry Spot, and contact the media as requested by the DNC, only change it from winner to loser.

The idea of EVERYONE voting for Edwards is better. That idea is floating around too. That would skew the polls so out of whack the pollsters would be forced to admit the fraud.

It's within the 3 hours before the debate that it happened last time. I'll bet Freepers could compose some good DU letters. Here's mine:

Dear media person from list:

I thought that Senater Edwards showed the hes ready to take over as presedent if Kerry is elected presedent. Chaney is a mean old man and Edwards is smooth and goodlooking I hope he wins. Sure made up my mind in this debate. Please keep up the good work. Thanks!

Very truly, XXXX

....and speaking of spin, I saw a new Kerry ad last night and he was defending his "global test" and had supposedly a direct quote from the debate that completely LEFT OUT the global test quote Then he called GW a lier for calling him on what he said in the debate! Does he not remember that 63 million people actually heard him say it!!!

And the best part is that in the debate he swore to everyone watching that he never used such crass language. Of course he already had but he did again. John Kerry is bipolar, left and far left.

You have to check out Kerry Spot on NRO. They posted the link to the DNC mass-email page and people are already sending stuff in regarding the debate.

Here's one rely an Ohioan received after sending a glowing, pro-Edwards email to a newspaper located there:

"UPDATE, AGAIN: Kerry Spot reader Jeremy has apparently already heard back from an Ohio paper. The Ohio paper's profanity-laden response: You ******* moron. You're supposed to send out your dumb*** spin letters after the debate — not four hours before it starts. All you do is **** editors off with this ****. Kerry-spot response: "I have to wipe the tears of laughter away."

Flood their emails with Edwards is a winner, then vote Bush in the online polls.
They won't know the Dems from us in the emails, and it is so personal it will tick them off because they will be flooded with thousands of emails.
