Long John Silver's Manager Fired For Foiling Robbery

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The manager of a Richardson, Texas, fast-food restaurant is out of a job after defending himself and three teenage employees during a robbery attempt.

"If I wouldn't have did it ... somebody probably be dead" - Manager

The manager, 46, who did not want to be identified, said two men came into his Long John Silver's restaurant and demanded money. The Richardson Police Department released photos (pictured, left) of the two men attempting the robbery.

The manager said he handed over the money in the cash register, around $500, and then told the men to leave, but they resisted saying they wanted the rest of the money. The manager told them that there wasn't anymore money.

The manager said he felt like he needed to defend the three 16-year-old employees who were laid out on the floor.

"It was going through my mind he was fixing to do something drastic to us, so I started to look around. I see his hands, you know, I don't see his hands on no weapon, but I see his hand ... and that's when I grabbed the hammer and I hit him upside the head," said the manager.

The two robbers left the restaurant without any money and none of the employees were hurt.

Citing company policy, the manager said the restaurant fired him, after putting him on suspension for two days, for not following company policy and for putting the employees at risk during the robbery attempt.

"In my heart, I feel like I did the right thing. There ain't no telling if I wouldn't have did it what the outcome might be ... somebody probably be dead," the manager said.

Just so everybody knows, LJS is owned by Yum! Brands, the same outfit as KFC, Taco Hell, and Pizza Hutt -- that fired the delivery driver for having a gun.

Kerry and Edwards are prepared to adopt a similar zero-tolerance policy for any US soldiers who defend the United States.

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We pillage plunder, we rifle and loot.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We extort and pilfer, we filch and sack.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
Maraud and embezzle and even highjack.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We kindle and char and in flame and ignite.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
We burn up the city, we're really a fright.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.

We're rascals and scoundrels, we're villians and knaves.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
We're devils and black sheep, we're really bad eggs.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.

We're beggars and blighters and ne'er do-well cads,
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
Aye, but we're loved by our mommies and dads,
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.

gee, I thought that the ROBBERY ATTEMPT had already put the employees at risk already!!

Politically Correct thinking = Just Lay Down AND DIE because you dont have the right to self defence or own/possess guns much less even be trained on how to properly use them.

RKBA BUMP!

The nearest LJS is 40 miles away. I ate there once, last year, the food was pretty bad.

Captain D's (which is only 2 miles away) is much better and seems to be their only competition in the fast-food seafood restaurant market.

Attention, bad guys! Long John Silvers has a company policy of nonresistance, so there is no need to fear for your safety should you decide to rob them!

Seems to me that this action by the restaurant chain violates some basic human /civil right. Don't citizens of the United States (once the're born of course) have the basic right to be ALIVE, and to defend themselves? (As opposed to Britain where this right has apparently been taken away)

Same here. Afterwards, I crapped something that looked almost as bad as Helen Thomas.
