I concur with you. Laimbeer did a mock into about 4 minutes before POTUS arrived and I think that was the only crowd pumping. I figured that the change of venue trhew them for a loop. Do you think the soaking of the field was a Dem dirty trick too? I think hosing the field is a good idea for dust control, but they must have thought they were filling a pool. The muck was 2-3 inches deep where we were.

Actually, I don't think they hosed the field - at least not where I was because it was all thick grass so there'd be no reason to hose it down. It did rain just a few days before & that field was in a low-lying area. Plus, the soil may have a lot of clay in it.
