Hispanic groups call for destruction of Schwarzenegger's movies

LOS ANGELES(AP) - A group of Hispanic activist is promising to "punish" Governor Schwarzenegger for his veto of legislation that would have let illegal immigrants get drivers licenses.

Leaders of Latino Movement USA held a rally today in Los Angeles. The group is soliciting the donation of movies the former actor starred in for a symbolic destruction in December.

Last month, Schwarzenegger vetoed a bill that would have let up to two million immigrants drive legally.

The legislation's supporters have vowed to go after the governor, whom they think caved in to public sentiment.

Schwarzenegger has said the bill ignored his requirement of key security safeguards -- an identifying mark that would differentiate them from licenses held by US citizens and legal residents.

Oddly enough, Mexico does a very thorough job protecting its southern borders, and regulating the heck out of the immigrants within. No one complains about that! What is ok to do in Mexico, should be ok to do in the US. It is our sovereignty at stake for freep's sake!

Fancy that, a governor heeding public sentiment. The legislators could take a lesson from that. About time elected officials started paying attention to the sentiments of those who voted them in office.

When debating the benefits of unchecked Mexican migration into the US I always ask this question, "If it's the Mexicans that make California so great then how come Mexico is in such a state when it's full of them?".

Wonder how far it would get us Gringos if we went down to Mexico and started having tantrum fits over their laws that we didn't agree with? It would probably get us about six feet-straight down.

We are obviously not dealing here with rocket scientists. Let these dimwits burn their own movies. They bought them and can destroy them. These mental midgets probably will go out and buy more just to destroy them to show their support of criminals. LOL

I totally agree. The assault of America is 100% managed by the Mexican gubmint and 100% allowed by the American gubmint. Elitist American sovereignty-usurpers are going to be challenged in '08 severely. They will have to be...

Lets just dig a moat at the border and fill it with crocodiles. I've always heard they like dining on Mexican.

Don't worry. I'm sure George Bush will step in real soon to back up Arnold and to demonstrate some leadership on the issue of illegal immigration.

/sarcasm.

Weelll... I don't know if you've travelled in mejico and I have not since the late '70s. But when I did go there, the cities were clean, the people well groomed, life seemed very orderly and peaceful. Of course, you had the villages out off of dirt roads where they were growing corn and herding animals, etc.

Generally, public sanitation was not as good as in the U.S. and conventional wisdom was that the government, military and policia were corrupt and to be feared.

Truly, the system down there keeps them in line. I think they're fleeing that more than economic conditions. They know how to make do and life is pretty good. However, it's a status symbol to migrate to El Norte, earn U.S. dollars and wire them back to the village. Not uncommon to see the latest electronics in the most basic hovel.

Once here, they drop the conservative circumspect demeanor of life in mejico and display less attractive qualities which, judging from your locale, you are familiar with. They do have more freedom here and greed drives them more than necessity.

While I empathise with your frustration over the complete refusal of our government to even acknowledge that illegal immigration is a problem; I am hesitant to launch a political assault in the tone you seem to propose. I don't know, call me chicken, but I am not yet ready to give up on repubs.
