Thanks for making my point; you can't even run an election without smearing your opponent.
Why do you feel compelled to make yourself our opponent?
It's weird.
You have made yourself an opponent by trying to convince good Republicans that reparations and mandatory military service are a part of the conservative agenda.
You are confusing revolution with political evolution.
I happen to agree that fiscal conservatism seems to be dead in DC. But I won't say that good men that are true to conservatism in other ways and doing everything they can to support President Bush are lying in bed with the ghost of Lenin and Trotsky. That's more than a little over the top.
You're being disingenuous.
And I suppose you think the hardcore leftwinger Obama will serve Illinois and America better, eh?
what happened is that everybody that isn't a pablum puking liberal bought into the commie re-definition of the word "conservative." Now every RINO that is just fine with statist, govt control and spending and happens to be a registered Republican thinks they're a "conservative." The conservatives who existed before the commie redefinition of the word are now "right wing fringe fanatics."
You say "moderate" like it's akin to being a Nazi.
Of course, you probably think it is.
Well, you've got your dream candidate running now....the one you've always told us could win if ONLY one would get nominated.
How's it going?
Talk about being disingenuous; you accuse every single person who doesn't support Keyes' wild ideas as either being a socialist or an Obama supporter.
But, of course, you all have made a political career out of criticizing everybody except Keyes.
You are right about that; I am most certainly not a Keyes Republican.
Don't blame me because you didn't pick a good enough candidate to run a halfway decent race against a known superstar.
LOL Thanks for putting the horse back in front of the cart.
LOL! I was against Clinton before Monica came up. She wasn't the excuse, she waas the confirmation of my good judgement.
When I see him write that neo-cons identify with the writings of Leo Strauss I just have to laugh. Not because I think he is wrong, but because he writes that as if there is some deep, dark conspiracy out there that we should all be suspicious of. That is just silly.
One thing I notice about most people who speak of Strauss in a hushed tone, as if his name evokes negative emotions all good people should share, is that they never cite passages from any of Strauss' writings to buttress their position.
I have read and reread almost all of Strauss' writings. I studied with a prominent Straussian. I rode bicycles with him and had hours of conversation, sweating and pushing pedals in pursuit of physical as well as intellectual fitness. I can tell you there is no conspiracy. Well, there is not a conspiracy of the sort that Paul seems to imply. There is a barrier to understanding Strauss, just as there is a barrier to understanding Einstein. It is a barrier of genius, of intellectual depth. I do not say this in a condescending way, but Ron Paul will never understand the teaching of Leo Strauss. I have spent the better part of my adult life trying to do that, getting a Ph.D. along the way, spending 5 years studying with a prominent student of Strauss, and I am too humble to write a book or article about Strauss' teaching.
I don't claim to be anybody special. I'm not. I do claim to know something on the subject of Leo Strauss, enough, at least, to point out the mistakes of my fellow conservatives on Free Republic.
What does that matter? He WAS a superstar by the time Keyes packed a bag and rented an apartment, was he not?
Our major newspapers in IL won't even cover Keyes unless it's to say something negative
Ahem:
Published September 14, 2004
Declaring that his campaign strategy is dependent on controversy, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Alan Keyes told the state's top GOP donors at a recent closed-door meeting that he plans to make "inflammatory" comments "every day, every week" until the election, according to several sources at the session.
And as for your "nazi" statement, I see you've learned a lot from the dems.
Same goes for your "moderate" statement.
Every conservative with a brain knows that Bush has been a weak champion of our cause. The time to gripe about that is next year. For now, let's keep our eyes on the ball and re-elect Bush. Our nation's security depends on it.
Amen. That's what most of us have done. I just wish the Keyes-bashers would follow the same advice concerning the Illinois Senate race.
If elected, Obama will be one more nightmare for all of us who care about the future security of this country.
Agreed. Keyes can be a pain for us, but we owe him our support, including our moral support.
