Mellencamp anti-Bush (hate) concert canceled

A Miami Beach concert by John Mellencamp and Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, which was meant to raise cash for the left-wing political left-wing political action committee Moveon PAC, has been canceled.

The concert was to be part of Moveon's Vote for Change Tour, which includes several anti-Bush entertainers performing benefit concerts in battleground states.

A page on the Jackie Gleason Theatre's website says the Oct. 8 concert has been canceled but gives no reason. It directs ticket holders to contact TicketMaster for refunds.

Concert promoter Jon Stoll of Fantasma Productions said the cancellation had nothing to do with lagging ticket sales.

"They weren't sold out, but they were going to be fine. So it was nothing to do with ticket sales," he told the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Mellencamp decided he would return to the Miami area after the election and hurricane seasons, Stoll told the paper. The rocker's next concert is scheduled for Saturday in Chicago.

The final Vote for Change event is a concert in Washington, D.C., on Monday featuring many of the artists who have been performing separately.

Mellencamp has been outspoken in his disdain for President Bush. As WorldNetDaily reported, a year ago Mellencamp and his wife wrote an open letter criticizing U.S. foreign policy and calling for the recall of the president.

"The governor of California was removed from office based on finance troubles. And yet George W. Bush has lied to us, failed to keep our own borders secure, entered a war under false pretense, endangered lives, and created financial chaos," he wrote.

How can somebody be so stupid as to write such an inane thing for publication? How do you "recall" the President of the United States? Under which Article of the Constitution does this "recall" provision fall?

Mellencamp has always struck me as something of a moron.

Constitution? What's that have to do with anything? If you're a leftist, the Constitution is the last thing on your mind.

How often have you read.... " And after completing a phd in economics, John melloncamp ( or any entertainer) went on to start a career in music, acting or sports....( I think the exception is james woods I think he has a masters)

Most of these folks have barely a HS education. They have money and want to feel important so they listen to thier publisist on what to believe....

Mellencamp is so stupid, he probably thinks Iraq is the 51th state and the 'our borders' comment refers to Iraqi borders.

He really is ponderous. I don't think he's stupid, but I think he is extremely pretentious. I think he used the borders issue to cover up his boilerplate Leftism. He uses a Rightwing grievance to try to confuse his (dwindling)fan base into thinking he isn't a Moveon. org nutcase.

If I read this correctly, Moveon PAC is a very political action committee, and may possibly even be left-wing.

Well, there's the leader/founder of the rock band "Boston"...

He studied classical piano as a child, and later taught himself to play guitar, bass and drums. In 1965, he won a full scholarship to M.I.T. and, after graduating with bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering, he went to work for Polaroid as a product engineer. He is named as inventor on 34 U.S. patents.

At Polaroid, Scholz acquired the technical know-how to build his own multi-track tape machine, and he built a small studio in his basement. He spent nights recording demos of his songs, which eventually landed him a recording deal with CBS/Epic. From this contract came the first Boston album, recorded almost entirely in Scholz's basement studio. Released in 1976, it sold more than 16 million copies, making it the biggest-selling debut album of all time, and led to a Grammy nomination. The first five Boston albums have all been certified platinum (one million units sold).

And:
In addition to his fame as a musician, Scholz also found success as an inventor and businessman. In 1981, he formed Scholz Research & Design, Inc., a company founded to create high-tech music equipment. After first developing the Power Soak, a volume-control device, SR&D introduced the Rockman, an inexpensive, small guitar amplifier with headphones. The Rockman proved phenomenally popular with other musicians, and the capital generated from its sales helped fund Scholz's further musical ambitions.
And:
The first device Tom manufactured was the Power Soak. This device, a little box that allows your amp to acheive great sound at low volumes, quickly became a hit among big-time guitarists. In 1982, SR&D released the Rockman headphone amp, a small device the size of a peanut butter sandwich which has a sound as big as a wall of amplifiers (and won't wake the neighbors!). Since then, SR&D has manufactured an extensive line of analog signal processors for guitar. Ultimately, the Rockman products revolutionized the way guitars were to sound and were to be recorded; Rockmans can now be heard on hundreds of commercial albums and hit records. Over the years, Tom has received some two-dozen electronic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical design patents. Tom sold the Rockman line to Dunlop Manufacturing in 1995, and subsequently closed SR&D.
Unfortunately:
Tom is a vegetarian, and is heavily involved with organizations such as Greenpeace, PETA, domestic violence groups, etc. In 1987, Tom set up a foundation to support such causes as animal rights, food banks, homeless shelters, and children's rights. Through the foundation, he has donated several million dollars to those causes.
