That's exactly what SSPX and other traditional Catholic groups have done.

I find it interesting that you would compare the Anglican Communion with the Catholic Church and characterize Mr. Akinola's schism as akin to Archbishop Lefebvre's.

In reality the Anglican Communion itself is a schismatical body, just as the SSPX is.

Also in reality, the Catholic Church continues to uphold traditional sexual morality which the Anglican Communion does not.

Mr. Akinola is not really committing the sin of schism because (a) he was not in communion with the Holy See to begin with and (b) he is separating himself from a group which openly teaches immorality.

The SSPX, unlike Mr. Akinola, have deliberately separated themselves from the Holy See even though the Holy See does not teach that sodomy is acceptable.

The comparison is ridiculous.

I'm an Episcopalian by choice. It was the church that brought me to Christ, so I believe it is where God wants me to be. My husband was raised a Catholic, and I could not accept Catholic doctrine regarding the ordination of women, the reading of the Bible, the primacy of the Pope, and many other things. I was a reform Jew before I converted, and to me Anglicanism was the "reform Catholic" church. It made sense to me.

But the consecration of a gay bishop does not make sense to me. And especially the way the gays used an end run to change the Church's doctrine, when there is a specific process for determining doctrinal changes of this magnitude, was unconscionable to me. The Church went through years of discussion and an official process to change its doctrine on the ordination of women. They would never have done this just by allowing one diocese to elect a woman bishop. Surely the ordination of homosexuals is as significant a doctrinal change. Yet it was allowed to happen, merely by the ordination of a homosexual bishop. And we are all supposed to just accept it or be called bigots. It's wrong on biblical principle, and it's wrong on procedural principle.

I really don't know what to do here. My husband disagrees with me on this. I do not want to join a different church from him.

Au contraire, mon ami. (A little French lingo there to prove I bear no prejudice against frogs.)

This comment is interesting:

...the Catholic Church continues to uphold traditional sexual morality...

Why doesn't the Roman Catholic Church aggressively root out the communists and homosexuals which infested our priesthood since the 1950's? Why hasn't the Catholic Church discarded and forbid the excesses in what passes as a mass after Vatican II was found to be contrary to the guarantee of Pope St. Pius X and endorsement of all successors until Pope Paul?

What will you and other NO people think and do when the Church realizes its errors and reverts to pre-Vatican II rubrics and society?

"Also in reality, the Catholic Church continues to uphold traditional sexual morality which the Anglican Communion does not."

In words, yes. The reality is that divorce coupled with annulment is quite common. The reality is that a homosexual subculture has taken over more than one parish and more than one seminary. The reality is that contraception is widespread and promoted in 'Catholic' institutions. The Catholic Church has and continues to have openly queer clerics. At the death of one of the most horrific of the queer prelates, the will paid for a queer choir to perform at the funeral services. The Catholic primary and elementary schools in America are teaching sex education, and in a way designed to violate the very teachings of the Holy Roman Catholic Church.

So yes, you are correct, the Catholic Church has NOT openly rejected the teachings of Christ. But the Modernist cabal of queers and feminists that run much of the AmChurch have in every way they can worked to subvert His Holy will and scandalize and molest the children. As we speak, a press conference is onging at the chancery hear in Spokane. A woman is coming clean about the coverup of CHILD PORNOGRAPHY in the residence of a parish priest from 10 years ago that she says the Bishop asked her to conceal and coverup. Note - the Bishop is set to become the CHAIRMAN of the USCCB next year.

Listen, I greatly respect the Roman Catholic Church, in fact, I worship in one every week.

And I also grieve every week for the Episcopal Church in the United States.

But the "facts" about upholding traditional sexual morality are not as clear as you would have it.

Peter Akinola is a Godly man who is striving to preserve the faith once delivered to the saints. Not every RC ordinary can make the same claim, and if some of them uphold traditional sexual morality, they have a funny way of showig it.
