My prayer is that embryo research continues to fail.
If embryo research breaks through, political restraint will collapse; other research lines will be dropped; and the industrial prodcution process will ramp up. Many thousands of embyros will then be consumed for the sake of treating the few. Cloning will probably be needed to meet the manufacturing requirements.
Having lost the political battle over embryonic cells, I'll then have the happy prospect of keeping my son on painful and only modestly effective old therapies while all around us other young diabetics receive their "miracle cures" and return to normal life. This is my personal nightmare scenario!
That would be extremely painful and difficult. Tough to fathom. These words came to me with respect to your hypothetical situation: "Great is thy reward in Heaven."
