Growing up with 'rich' relatives - living a modest life in envy of family who provide summer vacations and schooling - no wonder he went through life making stuff up - telling lie on top of lie to get what he wanted.
In the late-80's I was living in Massachusetts and was acquainted with a member of the Forbes family. He also was a modest guy, an engineer at one of the computer companies.
But he sure as heck did not like John F. Kerry (IIRC, at the time he was Asst. AG). In fact we'd rib him about JFK just to see the sour look he'd put on. He did not consider JFK to be a "real" Forbes.
The NYTimes with this piece, and the major NYT Magazine piece on Sunday is obviously taking its marching orders from Chappaqua.
