From: The Handbook of Texas, Online:

Before the Gulf War in 1991, Wyatt attempted to trade Coastal's refining and marketing assets for regular supplies of crude oil from Iraq. With Coastal director and former Texas governor John B. Connally,qv Wyatt met with Saddam Hussein and flew twenty-one hostages out of Baghdad. Wyatt was later critical of Operation Desert Storm and was investigated for possible violation of the United States trade embargo.

Wyatt and wife Lynn are major donors to political causes: since 1989 they have given nearly $700,000 in contributions, of which more than $500,000 went to Democrats.

It would be interesting to know which Republicans, if any, received any of the remaining $200K.

This may explain why John Kerry thinks the war in Iraq was a mistake. I believe the mistake may be his.

You'll never convince the koolaid drinkers.

Andrea Mitchell said on TV this morning that most of the Texas oilmen were republicans.

That may or may not be true, but my question is this: Why should anyone be surprised that oil companies and oilmen should be in the business of buying oil in the Oil for Food program?

Unless it's proven that they gave Saddam a kickback from their profits illegally, I don't understand why their being in the market for oil is a questionable activity.

[From MSNBC: United Nations: Oil-for-Food Fiasco?"]

It was far from a fiasco. It was a massive criminal enterprise, perpetrated by Saddam and in consort with a massively corrupt UN, especially France, Germany, and Russia.

He also donated at least $100,000 to Republicans. This is not so black and white as one would wish.

This makes me feel like I'm in never never land.

Nothing seems right about this whole election campaign.
The worst candidate the dems could have picked................and they pick this...this....this.... THING!!!
I tell you...he looks like an aberation. I'm not talking about how he LOOKS, physically. I'm meaning his persona. The guy isn't real.

How can you be on the opposite side of right, good, clean, truthful and always be on the good side of the left? Who are these people???????
It's amazing to me. These people are out of their minds!!!

A man who collaborated with the Saddam regime is a major fund raiser for the Democratic Party. The Democratic nominee would have let SH remain in power. You do the math.

I'd love to think that justice will come to this treasonous hack "oil man" for selling out our interests to Hussein for a quick buck and political capital for the Dems, BUT I'm a little too cynical for that.

The MSM on the whole will bury this article so low that even Newsweek won't dare do a follow-up, unless it is to apologize to the Democrats for daring to even insinuate that a "big oil" crook can also be a (*gasp*) liberal Kerry-ite.

Remember Sandy Berger? That his Watergate-sized illegal activity has not caused him to be wearing an orange jumpsuit and watching his back in the shower today is another affront to justice that the MSM has helped create.

Hmmmm? This is very interesting.

Back when the dems were briefly in charge of the Senate, Loserman said he was going to have hearings on Enron and they would "bury Bush".

The funny thing was .. shortly after starting the hearings, they were suddenly shut down. I suspected it was because it led directly back to Clinton or some other democrats (and not to Bush), and this guy who was involved in the OFF program might have been the reason why the Enron hearing didn't go anywhere.

And .. I was always curious why the MSM was never curious about why the hearings were shut down. But .. now that we know it was a big dem donor who was involved in OFF .. it explains the MSM's lack of curiosity for anything Enron.

MSM has delegated this to CBS for factchecking. Rather's team to handle.

ABC may doublecheck. Internal policy says help Kerry, fair or not.

Don't see a story in this.
