Cynthia Tucker is the editorial Page director of the AJC. What else would you expect?

If the real world is a place of leisure, luxery and snobbery, where days are filled with wind surfing, skeet shooting, bicycle riding, motorcycle riding, skiing, snow boarding, basking by the pool, passing a football around, tossing base balls around, playing hand ball, paddle ball, polo and jetting around the world in a private jet to exotic resorts, then Kerry fits right into the real world.

Now, shall we discuss how well he fits into the normal world ?

Too often, Bush has seemed to disdain rational analysis of a situation in favor of a rigid, unbending ideology that recognizes no shading of gray.

Yes, those terrorists just love those shades of grey. It was shades of grey that allowed the bombing of the Kobar Towers to slip down the memory hole, and the USS Cole, and the African Embassys. They make it so comfortable while we're waiting for another strike. Let's all bury our heads in the sand and pretend there's nothing to worry about.

During his time in public life, Kerry has proved himself to be an intelligent, diligent student of world and national affairs with the courage to take the lead at times when others would shirk the burden.

When????

Furthermore, Kerry has surrounded himself with competent people who are more interested in policies that actually work than in policies that meet some test of ideological purity.

Who??????? Sandy Burgler? Maddy Halfbright? Bob "please help Enron" Rubin?
